Marla

Marla

Marla has been adopted! For Marla and Frankie (the Frenchie), it was not love at first sight. But it did not take long for the fun and games to begin. Marla has left her foster home to join a wonderful, loving and active family in Austin. They recently lost an older Bulldog they had rescued and were looking for a playmate for Frankie. Marla was more than willing to fill that void in everyone’s life. She showered her new mom with kisses when they came to pick her up and is off to start a new life. We will miss you baby girl, but we know you will make your new family as happy as you did ours.

I guess her first owner grew tired of her after only a year. Marla turned one year old in November and was taken in by a co-worker. The co-worker has a one-eyed rescue Bulldog they had adopted along with two other dogs and two cats. They also foster sometimes for different rescues and have two foster kittens. Trying to keep Marla just became too much. Marla had issues with the family’s dominant female Poodle and she DOES NOT like cats. So they contacted rescue because they knew we would find Marla the permanent home she deserves. Marla is a beautiful 52 pound black and white spayed female. She was current on her shots and heartworm preventative and appears very healthy.

1/8/17 Update:  Marla is a sweet, energetic, playful and loving young girl. She is really beginning to fit in well around our house. She loves nothing more than to sit next to you and give kisses and get belly rubs. She is completely house trained and crate trained and walks pretty well on a leash. At first, she had problems with her dominant foster sister, but that is getting better with time. She didn’t start anything, but she will defend herself if she is pushed far enough. The only real negative we have noticed is that she may be toy aggressive. We will see if that continues, as she gets more comfortable in our family. Oh, and her puppy foster brother must think she is a life-sized chew toy because sometimes he just hangs off her while she is walking. She has been enjoying the playtime with him. They exhaust each other, which is good for all of us. Because of her energy level, she might be best in a family with older kids. For most families, she will be a perfect lifetime companion.

1/23/17 Update:  Marla is just the sweetest girl around people. She still has a problem with dogs that act aggressively toward her, but she is getting better. She and her dominant foster sister have gotten along much better this week. Her first week she exhibited a little toy aggression that I thought would be a problem. Thankfully we have not had any problems since. All the dogs enjoy sharing their toys and never have a problem. If you want a dog to sit next to you for hours and chew a toy, take long walks with you, run and play in the yard while you watch, then Marla is your girl.
