Mercedes Grace has found her new home with a wonderful family who had previously adopted through Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue.
We were fortunate to care for her for about a month, and during that time, we saw her blossom and gain confidence. While she did chew through a few pillows early on, she quickly learned that when we left, we would always come back. Mercedes was a delight with our French Bulldog and Dachshund, but it was her bond with our grandchildren that truly stood out.
Fostering can be an emotional experience, as you’re torn between wanting them to find the perfect home while also growing attached. However, we couldn’t be more thrilled for Mercedes Grace and her new family. Her family is truly a perfect match, and I know they will provide her with all the love and care she deserves. They’ve even been sending us pictures, which help heal my heart and reassure me that she’s in great hands!
At just 2 years old, Mercedes Grace is an absolute bundle of joy, weighing in at around 35 pounds of pure sweetness.
Her journey hasn’t been easy; when she was just 5 months old, she contracted parvo, a life-threatening disease. Tragically, her original owner chose not to treat her and left her to fend for herself.
Fortunately, an angel intervened, recognizing her worth and deciding to save her. It was a long and challenging battle, but Mercedes Graces emerged a survivor.
Now, at 2 years old, Mercedes Grace is looking for her next family. The family who rescued her never intended to keep her, just save her, but it’s been hard not to grow attached.
Here are some important things to know about Mercedes Grace: she tends to be nervous in new situations. Sudden noises, like a bag blowing or rustling, can send her hiding for cover. While she has mastered the “sit” command, she still needs to use her slow feeder to help her eat at a more leisurely pace.
Mercedes Grace interacted well with several grandchildren in her home, though she is more comfortable in a child-free environment. Above all, she needs a patient and understanding family who can help her build trust.
She may not be the right fit for everyone, but with time, she has the potential to flourish and bond deeply with the right people. She’s also friendly with other dogs. For the right family, she promises to be an incredible companion.
What she needs most right now is a safe space filled with grace and understanding, as she navigates her fears.
