An incredibly loving family drove about five hours on Friday to pick up Moose Wilson and take him home to live his best life. He now has a fur brother, Jack, previously known as Hagrid, a fur sister, Hazel, and two skin sisters.
It was love at first sight! As soon as he met his mom, he got a super cool personalized collar. Then, he was ready to jump in their vehicle and get on the road.
We wish Moose the happiest life. We know he’ll be getting all the love while he hangs out with his new family.
Thank you to everyone who helped this guy get back some of his vision. He’s seeing a bright future now!
I’ve had a lot of changes in my life over the last few days. First, my dad got really sick and was not able to take care of me anymore. It was shocking to say the least. We had been together since I was a baby, and I am now 5 years old.
I moved in with some family friends who had a son and I loved it there. But after two days with my new mom and dad sneezing and wiping their eyes, it was time for me to go. And this time, I packed my backpack and joined rescue.
I knew that rescue would want me and they would be able to help me with my eyes.
My eyes are a mess. I can barely see where I am going. I had some eye drops, but they got lost along the way. I also have a hard time hearing and I’m missing some fur here and there.
It seems like I need a complete overhaul. No worries, though. All of my problems will be addressed in the coming days and before you know it, I will be good as new. Then I will be looking through the approved applications for a family who needs a big ol’ Moose in their lives.
I am potty trained and I know how to use a doggy door. I am a bit thick, but I need that extra padding as winter is coming! (Wink, wink) Watch my journey through rescue and just wait until you see me with my adopted family. It’s going to awesome!
11/30/22 Update: We picked Moose up yesterday. He is a very calm guy. He doesn’t see or hear very well, so we have learned to get his attention you have to say his name a few times. It takes him a few minutes of looking around to figure out where it’s coming from. Once he looks our way, we wave our hands and he comes to us. We think he can really only see movement. He seems like he needs to be touching one of us to feel safe. If he’s not up against someone or one of the other dogs, he cries. He loved riding in the truck when bringing him home. He has enjoyed his walks yesterday and today. Even though he hasn’t figured out where all the walls are in the house, he knows exactly where to go to get out the doggy door. He has never been kenneled, but did great last night in a 4×4 pen. He slept all night and didn’t cry at all.

12/13/22 Update: It’s been a busy couple of weeks. Moose and Dozer saw Dr. Larsen, and as we knew, Moose has a few medical things that needed to be addressed.
The first week, we helped him with his medicated baths, eye drops, antibiotics, ear and tail pocket meds. Last Thursday, Dr. Larsen fixed him up and he’s going to be better than new.
Home from surgery for only three days, he’s feeling so good that it’s hard to get him to stay calm. He’s ready to play. We can’t wait until he’s all healed to see some more of his personality come out.
He’s so loving and is a little shadow! He likes to stand in the kitchen while I cook. He’s fully house broken and uses the doggy door. He’s learned the layout of the house and hasn’t run into any walls in days.
He’s learned to go into his kennel when we ask him. He’s so good and doesn’t complain at all. He also loves all the dogs in the house.
12/20/22 Update: Dozer Allen, Moose Wilson and Dutton continue to do great in their foster home.
They all get along great with each other and the big fur resident. The little white furry one is getting better with them, but she’s still a bit moody at times, and not always okay with sharing foster mom. She’s accepted Moose the most. I think it’s because he’s the most calm out of the 3.
Moose is healing from his surgeries and is doing amazing! He’s starting to want to play. We can’t wait for his stitches to come out on Thursday so we can let his personality shine even more! It seems like he’s getting some of his vision back. He was able to intercept and steal a treat this morning, as I was feeding it to one of the other dogs.
1/4/23 Update: Moose got his stitches out this past wee. It has been so much fun to see him play with his foster brothers and the resident Ms. Cranky-mean girl.
Moose is such an amazing boy. He goes into his kennel any time you ask him. He is completely house broken and uses the doggy door with no hesitation.
He doesn’t really play with toys. He will play a little with the giggle ball because he can hear it moving. Even though Dr. Larsen worked on his eyes, I think so much damage was done already, he still can’t see well.
Moose loves to sit in your lap, get and give love and little kisses. He loves to go on walks and is great in the car. Everyone who sees him, loves him!
1/17/23 Update: Moose is starting to play more and more! Although, he’s very chill for the most part. He prefers to be next to us and likes to know where we are at all times. He’s also started hanging out with the furry old resident. He seems to be more his speed.
His fur is starting to get softer and grow in where he was missing it before. We are still having some eye issues, and have an appointment set in a few weeks and to have the ophthalmologist look at them.
1/24/23 Update: I love all the dogs and all the people in my foster home. I’m so easy going.
I started playing with the other dogs this past week. Foster Mom gets a little nervous because I still can’t see well, and she’s afraid I will get hurt. I told her to relax and let me play, and she’s doing better. I have started going out farther in the yard too. I don’t like to be too far away from my people or one of the older resident dogs.
I’m just waiting on my appointment with the ophthalmologist to see if they can help me see better.
I am a great boy. I know where everything is in the house and get in my kennel when Foster Mom or Foster Dad tell me it’s bedtime.
I use the doggy door and never have accidents. Foster Mom thinks I am absolutely perfect in every way!
2/7/23 Update: Moose Wilson (top) is continuing to thrive with his foster family. He is so perfect in every way.
He goes to see the ophthalmologist this week. We are hoping they will be able to do something to help him see a little better.
Even with his very limited vision, he is able to get around anywhere in the house and in and out the doggy door. He knows exactly where his kennel is and trots right on over and gets in anytime we tell him it’s time.
As soon as we get his little eyes taken care of, Moose will be looking forward to moving in with his furever family.
2/14/23 Update: Moose went to the eye specialist this week. They started him on three new eye drops and an oral pill. His eyes look so much better! We think he’s seeing a little better too, but time will tell! He has been playing some with the other dogs. He’s still the best little guy around!
2/21/23 Update: Moose Wilson wanted to stop by and say hi! He’s doing great and we are just treating his precious eyes, hoping that we can get a little bit of his eyesight back. His favorite things are treats and sitting with you while he naps (standing up…lol). Hopefully, he will have great news to share with you after his follow-up visit on March 7!
3/3/23 Update: Moose Wilson is spending a week or so at our place while his foster peeps take a vacation.
Moose is a delight! He just wants to cuddle and snuggle. He might cry a little bit if he can’t find you (his eyesight isn’t the best, though we’re trying to rectify that).
He is the cutest little thing with his stocky legs trotting around the house.
He seems to be fully potty trained and best of all, he’s been fully agreeable with all the other pups in this house. He is definitely a lover, not a fighter. Run, don’t walk, to possibly be matched to this sweet guy!
3/25/23 Update: I’ve had a busy last couple of weeks. First, I got to go to the Bulldog Bonanza and I felt like a celebrity. Everyone wanted to pet me and it was like they all knew who I was!
When we left there, Dozer Allen and I went and stayed with some nice people and other foster Bulldogs, while our foster parents went on vacation. We had so much fun there playing and getting lots of love.
When we all got home, I went back to the eye specialist and they let us know that I would need another surgery on my eyes. Last week, Dr. Larsen went back in and gave me a little facelift. I’m taking it easy now, while I heal.
Foster Mom has been telling me about a family who is waiting on me. Hopefully, it won’t be too much longer. Foster Mom says that while she’ll miss me, she knows I will be loved. And then she can welcome another foster Bulldog like me, to take care of and find them a home too.
