7/24/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Obie to our rescue family! For five years, Obie lived as a cherished princess in the only home she had ever known. But recently, she sensed something was different. She heard the hushed conversations, saw the packed bags, and felt the shift. Her beloved dad was moving into hospice care… and there would be no one left to care for her.
Scared and unsure, Obie didn’t understand what was happening. Her dad, with a heavy heart, reached out to the local shelter. He made sure they knew everything about her—how special she was, how much she was loved. He filled out the surrender forms, and a date was set.
But Obie was lucky. The shelter staff saw the love in her story and immediately contacted rescue and asked for our help. They knew this princess deserved a soft landing.
Now, Obie is safe. She’s up to date on her vaccinations, spayed, potty trained, crate trained, and great with other dogs. She’s a little shy, often wearing a “deer in the headlights” expression, like she’s still trying to figure out, “Who are you and what’s going on?”
She waited patiently in the office for her new friend Ty to pick her up, quietly observing, gently curious.
All Obie needs now is a microchip and a quick heartworm test, and she’ll be ready to find her new home—a place where she can once again be the princess she was born to be.

Want to help dogs like Obie? We need you.
In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, dogs are being surrendered to shelters every day, many with stories just like Obie’s. With more foster homes, we can say “yes” more often. Fostering is one of the most powerful ways to save lives — we pay for the vet care, you provide the roof…. and the couch.
Lone Star Bulldog Club and Bulldog Rescue are in compliance with and support the Texas Health and Safety Code chapter 828 .002; which states EVERY dog rescued under our umbrella, either from a shelter, Rescue Society or private sources, will be spayed or neutered. Bulldogs are typically affectionate and friendly, and the Network will not knowingly place a dog with an unsound temperament. However, no one can predict how any dog will react in a given situation without complete knowledge of its life experiences before its rescue. Therefore, adopters are strongly urged to exercise prudence and caution in introducing an adopted Bulldog into a new situation until the dog has become fully adjusted to its new environment and the adopter has had an opportunity to become familiar with the dog’s unique personality. Lone Star Bulldog Club and Bulldog Rescue Network make no claims, representations, or warranties regarding the temperament, behavior, or future health of any rescued Bulldog.
