8/23/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT… times two! From volunteer Tina: I have the most exciting news to share! When I called this wonderful family to talk about adoption, they didn’t hesitate for a second—they didn’t just want one dog… they wanted TWO!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
INTRODUCTION: Odelia’s journey hasn’t been easy, but she’s one lucky girl now.
She found herself in a tough spot—homeless and dealing with prolapsed lady bits, something no pup should ever face.
Thankfully, she made her way to a local shelter where she was quickly taken into surgery and everything was put back where it belongs.
Now, Odelia is on the mend and has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Yesterday, she left the shelter behind and entered a loving temporary home where she can rest and recover. Today, she’ll enjoy the holiday as a loved family member.
At around 40 pounds and approximately 3 years old, Odelia is ready for a fresh start and a brighter future.
2/13/25 UPDATE: Odelia has come such a long way! This tiny-but-mighty girl, under 4 years old, is full of energy and joy.
Before coming into rescue, she didn’t have the structure or outlets she needed for her playful spirit, but she has absolutely thrived in a multi-dog home. Having other dogs around has helped her channel her energy in the best way—through play, zoomies, and fun wrestling matches.
Because of her high energy and love for companionship, Odelia would do best in a home with another playful dog or with an active family ready to keep her engaged. She’s a sweetheart with a big personality packed into her small frame, and she’s more than ready to find her perfect match!
3/20/25 UPDATE: Today, scuttlebutt (maybe it was sniff butt?) intimated a vacant guest suite at Chez Maison Ménard BBnB. Having heard about the haute cuisine served, I raised my paw to volunteer first. Fortunately, the operators wanted me too, so I moved in a few hours ago. On the escort ride, I sucked down the love while sampling treats like strawberries, cheese, pastry, and oven roasted turkey. Good start, no?
Upon arrival, the hospitality staff led me to a capacious guest suite furnished with a private dining nook, choice of beds, and a she-shed. Wow, I never saw nutt’n like that at the boarding place.
In these photos, I imitate Goldilocks trying to choose the best bed. I can’t decide so why not sleep on both?
As an added bonus, I met my new roomie at the entrance to my gated community. We instantly connected. We even peed together outside.
She was curious about me, so I submitted to her inspection. Rumors indicate that she will not be around too much longer. This must mean that she has found her fur-ever home. I want to learn about that stuff, so I am ready when my turn drives up.
TTFN. I plan to acclimate quickly so stay tuned for pupdates.
P.S. New foster peeps say I will probably be scooped up more quickly than ice cream in July.
4/2/25 UPDATE: Today marks the start of my second week in my foster home, and I’m proud to share my progress:
*Earned full run-of-the-house privileges in just two days
*Do my business outside like a pro
*Obey commands like “Eat” (easy), “Come,” “Sit,” “House,” and “Bed”
*Unleashed my playful instincts (more on that in a sec)
*My love quotient has definitely skyrocketed
*Learned how to buddy up with my roomie
While they’re training me on the leash, I’m showing them the art of domestic tranquility. I take my position, and they shower me with affection. When Foster Dad takes his position at the kitchen island, I’m there to assist. After all, he tends to drop some delicious morsels, and I’m more than happy to handle the clean-up!
Speaking of meals, Foster Dad works his magic preparing the comestibles, and I provide the grand finale with a bowl clang symphony. We pups get served warm meals and all the supplements we need to stay healthy. Not a bad life, right? But there’s more happy news to share!
As for playtime—let’s just say I’ve developed a serious passion for it. I like to toss around my ball toy. Like a seasoned third baseman, I wait for it to roll fair or foul before pouncing on it with precision.
And don’t miss my “Odelia vs. Toy Box” video. I emptied the whole box to inspect each toy, then dragged it all into my “she shed.” But in a shocking twist, the toy box tried to grab my leg in retaliation! Well, I’m happy to report that I won that battle hands down.
All this playtime can tire a girl out, though, and I need to recharge my batteries before dinner. That pause, of course, only makes me hungrier!
Now, I’ve only got a few more words before food calls. Remember that bullet point about how I behave with other dogs? That’s a win, am I right?
With my high energy, an active home would be perfect for me. Maybe I could even form a playgroup with kids—I’m full of potential!
I’m young, affectionate, playful, dog-friendly, well-behaved, and—almost forgot—modest too. My peeps are already moping about me not sticking around long enough.
4/23/25 UPDATE: Miss Odelia reporting. Fur-sister Lola and I have forged a sistren bond. Check us out snuggling on the same floor bed in the doggy dormitory. We both overnight in FD’s bed so we just rest here after an exhausting evening of Tug-o-War after dinner. Between T-o-W bouts, chewing on toys also induces the Winken/Blinken/Nod response.
I am ready for my fur-ever home. Are you looking for me?
5/23/25 UPDATE: Hola, buenos días, bonjour, buongiorno—and a big hello to the Bulldog world!
To no one’s surprise, potential adopters want an audience with me. Well, who wouldn’t?
Nutrition update: I strutted into PetSmart yesterday and tipped the scales at a sleek, muscular 41.4 pounds. When I moved in on March 23, I was a lightweight at 39.4 pounds—but let’s be clear, those extra two pounds? All muscle. No rodomontade here—just a stunning doggy bod built with precision. Jealous, much?
Did you see the video of me in an epic tug-of-war with my roommate, foster girl Lolita?. Despite shedding some pounds, she still managed to drag me around a bit. I let her have that one. Maybe.
Curious about how I do with other dogs and people? Take a look at this cozy pic of me snuggled up with two others in Foster Dad’s bed.
Spoiler alert: I’m the one closest to him. Just sayin’…
6/22/25 UPDATE: Odelia needs a family! She writes: Looking for a loving Bulldog to join your family? I just might be your girl.
I’ve been spending my days enjoying the finer things in life, like lounging in the shallow end of the pool. It’s not deep, but just enough to keep cool and stay alert in case any humans need a quick rescue. Don’t worry — they may end up needing a change of clothes, but I just need a towel and I’m good to go!
When I’m not lifeguarding, I ride shotgun on errands as a proud Bulldog Limo co-pilot. I’ve got an internal GPS that helps keep my foster dad on track — no unnecessary detours when I’m on board. I take my job seriously, and I look adorable doing it.
Right now, I’m getting some extra love since I’m between doggy roommates. One of my foster pals was reunited with her family post-vacation, and another just got adopted. I hear another Bulldog will be joining me soon — paws crossed she likes to play as much as I do!
To my future family: I’m well-mannered, affectionate, and know how to be a true member of the family. I’ve learned so much in my foster home and I’m ready to bring my good-girl energy to my next home. Could that be with you?
7/6/25 UPDATE: Odelia needs a family! She writes: I’ve been very busy showing my new roomie, foster girl Miss YaYa, the ropes. First things first: I welcomed her properly with the official Bulldog Welcome Dance—no newcomer goes without it!
Then, the games began. I’ve taught her how to play ball, keep-away, and our absolute favorite: the grab-ass game. We take turns sneaking up from behind, leaping onto each other, and wrestling until someone flips the other over. Reversals are frequent—we’re both pros.
We also play a competitive round of tug-of-war from time to time. Even when I have the high ground, that girl surprises me with her strength! But when the play winds down, we enjoy peaceful moments together in our shared “she shed.” I like to position myself just in front of YaYa—clearly guarding her—because yes, I am that sweet.
This week, we welcomed a new temporary guest, Mr. Munch, while his mom, Auntie Sophia, takes a short trip. She’s one of the adoption coordinators and told me she was impressed with my energy and spirit. She says lots of families are searching for playful, loving Bulldogs like me.
So here I am—living my best life while I wait for my next home. Could you be the one I’m waiting for?
