Peaches Paradise has been adopted!! I am so very happy for this beautiful girl. She is the sweetest little bulldog despite her rough beginnings. When I said I would foster her I told myself to not get too attached but there is no way to not fall in love with her.
Her new parents Brandon and Evelyn are going to give her the best life in El Paso. I know she will be spoiled and loved! I also know my Abby will miss her fur foster sister because wherever Abby was….there was Peaches. I will miss my first foster more than anything but I also know she is in the perfect home with the perfect family for her. Love and miss you Peaches!!
Three years, six months, and 19 days ago, Peaches Paradise was born in sunny California, and back then, she was likely a chubby, adorable bundle of joy, destined to be someone’s cherished companion.
Sadly, her early life took a dark turn. Instead of being a beloved pet, she was apparently exploited as a breeding machine, used to line someone’s pockets.
It’s heartbreaking to think that anyone could look at her and decide to breed her one more time, caring nothing for her well-being. To them, she was just a vessel for producing more puppies, not a living, feeling being deserving of love and care.
The neglect she endured has left her with severe demodex, causing her skin to become raw and painful. She has a large, hard knot on her stomach, about the size of a baseball. This didn’t happen overnight—it’s the result of prolonged suffering, neglect and maybe even abuse.
It was an exhausting travel day for Dianne to bring Peaches Paradise to safety. But to her ~ and to us ~ Peaches Paradise is worth her weight in gold.
On the ride home, Peaches Paradise showed her sweetness even amidst her pain. She preferred the front seat, though she had more space in the back. From time to time, she’d make her way up front, offering a few gentle licks and watching the world she’d left behind fade in the rearview mirror.
Peaches Paradise is incredibly grateful to be rescued and relieved that her previous owner no longer wants her. She’s set to undergo surgery on Tuesday to address the painful knot that can’t wait any longer.
Please keep Peaches Paradise in your thoughts and prayers as she begins this new chapter of her life, full of hope and healing.
10/11/24 Update: I remember the day I picked her up as if it were yesterday. I couldn’t help but wonder how someone could breed a Bulldog like Peaches Paradise…. let alone, KEEP doing it.
She was microchipped in California when she was younger, but somehow ended up in Texas. She was living a dreadful life, and only seen as a “money maker” for someone else. It was August 4, sweltering hot, and she carried a very unpleasant odor.
Fast forward two months, and Peaches Paradise would love for you to see her transformation. She faced some setbacks—her skin needed healing, and she had to be spayed. Then just when she was ready to leave Dr. Larsen’s care, Doc called with the news that Peaches had developed a hernia. Back to surgery she went, followed by another ten days of recovery.
But today, Peaches Paradise walked out of the vet’s office looking like a million bucks. Yes, she still has some sagging in her middle—a bittersweet reminder of her past life as a breeding machine—but she’s beautiful, confident, and ready for a family who will treat her like the princess she truly is.
People often ask me how I can dedicate myself to helping Bulldogs day in and day out. They don’t understand why I do it, and I can’t quite grasp why they don’t.
10/18/24 Update: Peaches is such a sweetheart, and she’s starting to show her playful, mischievous side! Yesterday, I walked into the kitchen to find she had turned the trash bag I left in front of the fridge into her personal playground. There was trash everywhere, and the bag was moving because she was inside it! Thankfully, she didn’t manage to get into the box of Bisquick I had thrown out, or things could have been even messier!
She absolutely loves playing with my granddog, Oreo. At just 7 pounds, Oreo has only known Bulldogs since my daughter brought him home as a puppy two years ago. Yesterday, they were having a blast doing zoomies in the backyard! Peaches kept up beautifully, but I made sure she took a break when they came inside. Despite her leg and pelvis issue, she doesn’t let it slow her down. She barks to get the others’ attention when she wants to play and howls when it’s time to be let out of her crate in the morning.
Peaches walks wonderfully on a leash and stays right by your side even without one. She’s truly a joy to have around!
11/15/24 Update: Peaches Paradise is doing AMAZING! Her back legs are getting stronger every day, and she’s walking with more confidence, no longer slipping. The daily exercise with my grand dog has been a huge help — they love to play together, and he always looks for her when he comes over. It’s so heartwarming to see their bond grow!
Peaches Paradise is incredibly smart and knows what the word “no” means. She’s also a little mischievous, especially when it comes to Abby’s food, but we’re making great progress there. When she hears “no,” she stops — most of the time, anyway!
This sweet girl is full of curiosity and energy, always wanting to be part of the action. She loves her foster sister Abby, and the two of them are often found napping together after a good play session. Peaches Paradise just wants to be around everyone all the time — she’s so affectionate and loving.
Here are some of Peaches’ latest milestones:
Helping out with laundry! Look at her standing on her back legs — something she couldn’t do when she first came to us! Such a little helper.
Napping with Abby. These two are the perfect nap partners.
Jumping up by herself! Peaches took the leap on her own without any help, and we couldn’t be prouder of her progress. (The cushion wasn’t even there — she did it all by herself!)
Kisses galore! She’s always ready to give you a kiss — just look at that beautiful face!
Peaches Paradise’s playful, loving nature is shining through more every day. She’s ready to be adopted, and we know that whoever adopts her will be getting a truly special dog.
