Polly Pocket (now Pollyanna)

Polly Pocket (now Pollyanna)

AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! Polly Pocket has been adopted, and she is now Pollyanna! And she’s taking a big piece of my heart with her.

This girl didn’t just survive—she endured.

She was found locked inside a dog park, with no food, no water, no one coming back.

Underweight. Undernourished. Unwanted.

It was painfully clear she had been used to breed—again and again. Her body bore the marks of it: C-section scars from the litters she carried for people who never once saw her for who she was.

When Polly came to me, she was sick. So very sick.

The kind of sick that’s taken too many dogs in overcrowded shelters. A strain of kennel cough so aggressive, it shut down facilities and cost others their lives.

Polly’s recovery was long. Longer than any I’ve fostered.

And just when we thought she was through the worst, complications after her spay knocked us down again. It took time. It took money. It took worry, and late nights, and close watching.

But she was always worth it.

Because through everything—every vet visit, every medication, every hard moment—Polly was soft. She was kind. She was gentle.

She was the kind of dog who made you feel lucky just to be near her.

Her new name is Pollyanna, and I can’t think of anything more fitting. Because even after everything, she never lost her joy.

She never stopped trusting. Never stopped loving.

Her whole heart stayed wide open.

And now she gets the life I used to dream about for her.

Alan and Kathy if I could’ve drawn her future with crayons and hope, it would’ve looked exactly like your home. Full of warmth. Full of laughter. Grandkids. Gatherings. The soft kind of chaos that feels like love.

Thank you—for giving her what she always deserved but never had.

And to Pollyanna: thank you for letting me be part of your story.

You’ll always have a home in my heart.

Forever looks good on you, sweet girl.

INTRODUCTION: Meet Polly Pocket – The Little Bulldog with a Big Heart

Some dogs are treated like toys—played with, adored as puppies, and then discarded when the novelty wears off. But Bulldogs are NOT toys. They are living, breathing, loving companions who deserve care and commitment. Polly Pocket knows this heartbreak all too well.

Left in a dog park, alone, without food or water for several days, she waited for someone—anyone—to notice her. By the time animal control picked her up, she was dehydrated, starving, and struggling.

🐾 More than half her fur is gone.

🐾 Her skin is inflamed and itchy.

🐾 Her nose is crusted over.

🐾 Her nails? Like talons.

🐾 She has painful interdigital cysts between EVERY toe.

🐾 She’s clearly had a litter or two.

But that’s all behind her now.

Today, Polly took her freedom walk—and she’s not looking back.

After a hearty meal that she devoured with enthusiasm, Polly’s true personality began to shine. She melted into every touch, soaking up love like she’d been starved for it just as much as food. She wasn’t just grateful—she was overjoyed. She follows her people everywhere, looking up with hopeful eyes, her little bulldog body leaning into every hand that reached down to pet her. When she saw kids, her excitement doubled—she wiggled up to them, nudging for more affection, ears perked as if she’d found her favorite kind of people.

She had a much-needed medicated bath, the first step in soothing her irritated skin before she visits Doc Larsen, who is going to fall in love with her (because, really—how could you not?).

Polly Pocket may have been tossed aside like an old toy, but she’s anything but fragile. She’s strong. She’s resilient. And soon she will be ready for a family who will love her forever.

Stay tuned as Polly heals, learns what true love feels like, and gets ready for her happily ever after.

3/20/25 Update:   Polly is already looking so much better! She’s currently in quarantine at our house due to a cough, but she’s on medication and should be ready for her spay soon.

This girl is so easy! She’s crate-trained, house-trained, and incredibly lovable. We have several feral cats that I’ve trapped and fixed over the years, and she doesn’t chase them. She’s also seen Mike and Maxine with no reaction at all, as well as dogs passing by our iron gates. I suspect she was a breeder dog and is used to being around other dogs—she’s not overly excited by them in the slightest.

She wasn’t a fan of getting her nails trimmed, but she’s easy to bathe, doesn’t mind having her feet handled, and has no issues with me taking her food bowl mid-bite.

We’re typically a one-foster household, but my husband is being very cool about having her here—especially since our other two are so easy. If any approved fosters are on the fence about taking in another, Polly is an absolute gem!

4/2/25 Update: Polly Pocket is ready to spring into your heart—and your home.

After weeks in quarantine, Polly is finally free and FLOURISHING. The moment we opened that door, she lit up—tail wagging, eyes sparkling, and heart so ready to be part of the family she’d been watching from afar.

She’s been through a lot. Used as a baby machine in her past life, Polly has visible C-section scars as a painful reminder. But her heart? Completely intact. Gentle. Forgiving. Full of love.

Now that she’s safe, fed, and adored, she’s blooming into the dog she was always meant to be. Her coat is growing in beautifully, she’s gained a healthy 6 pounds, and she’s got a paw-dicure planned during her upcoming spay. (It’s giving spring glow-up.)

She’s playful but polite.

LOVES kids—she’ll quietly follow them around and sit beside them like a patient little nanny.

Totally chill with grumpy dogs and completely ignores the feral cats on the property.

Obsessed with her toys—but not in a destructive way. She gently collects and hides them like tiny treasures.

Polly Pocket is sunshine in squishy dog form. The kind of companion that brings warmth to every room, and joy to every heart.

Now, she just needs her forever.

If you’ve ever wanted a sweet, calm, gentle dog who will love your children, cuddle your soul, and never ask for anything but love in return—Polly’s your girl.

Please share her. You never know who might see this and find their perfect match. Let’s get Polly home.

4/14/25 Update: Oh Polly Pocket, you are something else.

Locked in a dog park, left to fend for yourself with no food or water for days… and look at you now.

From survival mode to sofa queen—this is the face of resilience, love, and a second chance.

Polly’s got pep in her step, a toy stash she hoards like gold, and a heart big enough to love a whole family. She’s not your typical lazy Bulldog—she’s part playdate, part cuddlebug, and 100% ready for forever.

The before? You’ve seen it.

The now? Right here.

The future? Some lucky family gets to write that with her.
