Abbie (formerly Poptart) loves you BIG once she gets to know you. We call her “The Gatekeeper” because she is so protective. She lays on the top of the couch, where she can still see us and the front door. She loves to play with her fur siblings. However, if she has to pick just one fave, she is a daddy’s girl.
Yesterday was a pretty big day! People were celebrating, eating good snacks and watching some kind of super football game. I am very grateful that, in the midst of all that fun, someone made me a priority and saved me from a local shelter. Now, I too can celebrate!
I was rescued from the streets, and when no one came looking for me, I was rescued from the shelter! I landed in a home with a quieter atmosphere, so I can finally relax. I am scared of a lot of things right now, but I can already tell, I won’t be scared for long.
The nice lady who picked me up said I was going to get a bath and then she would let me enjoy some special snacks too. I am about 2 years old and about 46 pounds of perfect Bulldog!
2/29/24 Update: I just wanted to update everyone after my visit to see Dr. Larsen. We took a road trip on Friday to see the doctor, as well as visit Puckett’s Nursery. We were in the car a good part of the day.
I was such a good girl! I rode in the car without one ounce of trouble. I watched out the window a lot. There was lots of things to look at. When I wasn’t doing that, I might have taken a couple brief cat naps. It was a fun day seeing and exploring new places!
Dr Larsen said was I was a BEAUTIFUL girl. I guess it must be true
~ my foster mom and dad tell me that too. In fact, they say it all the time. It sure makes a girl feel so special.
I have a little kennel cough lingering from being at the shelter. I also have a little yeast infection in my left ear. Unless something comes back in my all my lab work, Dr Larsen says I am a healthy girl. She even couldn’t believe my skin and coat was in such good shape. She says Bulldogs with my color tend to have skin and coat issues. Thankfully, not me, guys!
Things are really looking up for me and I couldn’t be more happy about that! It felt like I was at the shelter forever; however, it was way better than being on the streets ~ I do admit. Rescue has been the best! Everyone has treated me so well.
My foster mom has been teaching me manners and different commands. It’s a pretty awesome deal. She shows me what to do, I practice, and every time I get it correct, she loves on me and gives me a treat. It’s my favorite time of the day! Plus, I’m not gonna lie: I love the special one-on-one attention.
Things are working out here in my new foster home! Foster Mom and Dad say I’m never getting lost again. Plus, I get to become their permanent fur baby when I get the all clear from Dr. Larsen. I am over the moon excited!
I have a little surgery coming up. I’m OK, it’s just to protect me from becoming a breeding momma, instead of getting to be a fun-loving family pet. Yeah, I’d say getting lost has really turned out to be a good thing for me!
