Red Rover (now Guinness)

Red Rover (now Guinness)

9/13/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From volunteer Dianne: Sometimes, when you know, you just know. And Red Rover absolutely knew it was his big day!

When he arrived at his adoption meet-up spot in Tyler, he was full of excitement. That’s where he met his new mom, Leslie, who had made the trip all the way from Shreveport just to bring him home. It was truly one of the best adoptions ever.

Leslie and I have been dear friends for many years, and her love for Bulldogs runs deep. She’s a passionate advocate for rescue efforts in her hometown, constantly working to help dogs find safety, whether through rescue placements or transport, especially since her area doesn’t have a no-kill shelter.

Red Rover, now named Guinness, has already settled beautifully into his new life. He has a Bulldog brother, Zeke, who stayed home because he gets a little anxious on car rides. And while his new dad, Chris, couldn’t be there on adoption day due to work, he’s now part of his new family too.

These days, Guinness is living the good life… riding the ATV around the property, keeping watch and soaking up every bit of his new adventure.

Happy tails, sweet boy.

8/7/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Red Rover to our rescue family! He writes: Bulldog friends, you are NOT going to believe where I’ve been staying…

Give up? An exotic rescue ranch!

Yep, me, Red Rover, rubbing shoulders with llamas, goats, and all kinds of critters. I tried to fit in like a glove, but let’s be honest: I’m a Bulldog, not a barnyard boy. Something just felt off—turns out, that “something” was me.

So, it wasn’t a huge surprise when the ranch folks called in the Bulldog experts to find me a more suitable home. When the rescue wagon rolled up on Wednesday, I didn’t hesitate—I hopped right in, ready for a fresh start.

My new rescue friends named me Red Rover, and honestly, it suits me. That same day, I visited the vet because my eyes were hurting and I had a pretty nasty bite on my neck. Dr. Shiplov kept asking who bit me, but your guess is as good as mine. He wanted to shave my neck to get a better look, but I wasn’t too thrilled about the buzzing razor noise. So, the plan is to take care of everything—my eyes, my neuter, and that neck wound—while I’m snoozing peacefully under anesthesia.

The folks at the exotic ranch took me in because I was living outside—and if you know Texas, you know that’s no place for a Bulldog. I’m so grateful they got me to safety.

Dr. Shiplov said I’m a perfect specimen of a Bulldog—young, handsome, probably just about a year old. (Flattery will get you everywhere, Doc.)

So that’s my story for now. Next time you see me, I’ll be feeling better, looking a little different with my fresh shave and bright eyes, and getting ready to find that family I’ve been dreaming of.

9/4/25 UPDATE from foster boy Red Rover: Go ahead…. You can sing it! You know you want to. “Red Rover, Red Rover… let me come OVER!”

I’m happy to report that I’m doing GREAT in my foster home! But just like my name says… I’m ready to come over and make your home my home. 💌

Let me brag a little because I’m kind of the total package:

✅ I get along great with my foster family’s dog
✅ I’ve mastered the doggie door
✅ I’m cool with bath time
✅ I love chilling in bed with you
✅ I’ll follow you everywhere ~ loyal is my middle name!

Honestly, I’m so well-mannered that you won’t need to do much training at all. I’m smart, sweet and oh-so-ready for my next adventure with a family to call my own.

So… Red Rover, Red Rover — are YOU ready to bring me over?💕
