Ruger Eastwood (now Winston)

Ruger Eastwood (now Winston)

2/15/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster pops: Ruger Eastwood (now known as Winston) has officially packed his bags and headed south to his new home.

And oh, what a special boy he is. To know Ruger is to love him.

When I first picked him up, he was nervous and unsure of what was happening. But once we got home, he quickly settled in and even managed to charm the resident Bulldog, a true curmudgeon if there ever was one. That alone is impressive.

It didn’t take long for Ruger Eastwood to reveal that he is a Grade A snuggler, a professional-level cuddler, and a dog who thrives on affection. With every passing day and each goofy little quirk, the “foster dog” label started to blur. I found myself wondering if I was about to join the exclusive Foster Fail club. I was this close.

But with my long workdays and the many hours Ruger Eastwood would have spent waiting for me to come home, I knew keeping him would be about me… not about what was best for him. I prayed about it and trusted that somewhere out there was a family where Ruger Eastwood would be the missing piece. He deserved a home full of interaction, attention and love.

And then… enter Paul, Carrie and fur sister Penny.

At the meet and greet, it was obvious Paul and Carrie understood just how special Ruger Eastwood is. He captured their hearts as quickly as he captured mine. Penny may have played it cool at first, but if there’s one thing I know about Ruger Eastwood, it’s this: he wins everyone over.

Saying goodbye to a foster dog is never easy. But there is deep joy in knowing they are walking into a home where they are already cherished.

Ruger Eastwood, thank you for letting me be a chapter in your story. May your next chapter, as Winston, be your greatest adventure yet.

9/6/2025 INTRODUCTION:  Please welcome Ruger Eastwood to our rescue family! He writes: Two strange things have happened to me in my short life…

First: someone cropped my ears. Yep, they’re gone. No one knows why, but they’re definitely not coming back.

Second, and even harder to understand: my family dropped me off with their friends… and then just never came back. My step-family kept saying, “Ruger’s ready to go home!” They waited. They called. They reminded. But still… no one came.

Eventually, my step-family told them, “If you’re not coming for him, we’re finding someone who will.” And even then, no one showed up.

So here I am in rescue. And honestly? I’m happy to be here. Because now I know I’ll find a family who would never, ever leave me behind.

I’m 4 years old, full of love and just need a little snip snip before I’m officially ready to meet my next family. I can’t wait to finally belong to someone who sees me as part of the family — for good. ❤️
