Sir Mugsy Littlebottom knew something was different about today. After an early breakfast, Foster Mom gave him a nice long bath and a manicure. She gave him soapy kisses and told him how much she loved him. His big day was finally here!
A wonderful family had been watching and waiting patiently for Mugsy, as he went through his series of treatments.
Today, Mugsy got to go home with his forever family.
It was love at first sight. He walked right in, crawled across the coffee table and into his new owner’s lap. They got all the Mugsy kisses and his signature hugs. It was a perfect match.
My eyes water, but my heart flushes with joy. You made it home, Mugsy! XOXO
Please welcome Sir Mugsy Littlebottom to our rescue family! From his foster momma This little scoop of chocolate pudding was welcomed into rescue this week. Meet Sir Mugsy Littlebottom! He’s a 2-year-old petite, sweet, gentleman who left behind his sorted past with the ladies to find the true love of a family and the sweet caress of a sofa.
He got a good scrubbing in the tub and some ointment applied to the kennel sores on his legs and trouser parts. It looks like he’s spent most of his free time sitting in the same spot.
He doesn’t seem to have much in the way of manners, but he is very eager to please. Foster Mom and Pop are excited to watch his personality unfold and help him learn how to live the good life to prepare for his furever family.
1/25/23 Update: Mugsy is so sweet and so gentle. All he wants is to be petted and talked to. He has been such a good boy with house breaking. But he loves to mark. Hopefully with consistent redirection and his neuter he’ll break that habit. He is still learning what life is outside of a kennel. He has to be right by my side or sit a few feet away and observe. He doesn’t know how to play with the other dogs yet. Our female has tried to play with Mugsy a few times. They sniff each other but he starts to get overwhelmed when she starts dancing around and he hides behind me. That’s our cue it’s time for a break. His kennel is his safe zone. He will stay in it even with the door open. He has done well with introductions to the other dogs in the house. He has spent time with our three year old female LSBCR alum Caboose, and a visiting ten year old male frenchie. He and our eldest male bulldog seem to tolerate each other but need to be supervised. Our eldest bulldog has given Mugsy attitude at every introduction. Mugsy has snarled or growled in return, but it is out of insecurity.
Mugsy did get to visit with the doctors at foster moms work. He got a physical, vaccines and medicine for the skin infection on his baby making bits. Which, will be retired soon as he can visit Dr. Larsen. His poor teeth are almost completely worn down from boredom\ anxiety of spending his life in a cage. He doesn’t have any trouble eating though!
Sadly, we did just find out that he is heartworm positive. I can’t stop crying at the unfairness of it. He’s so young, and even with the horrors of his two years as a profit machine, he is still so gentle and full of love. Now he will have to endure a painful, expensive treatment and be restricted to kennel rest for a month. He’s a resilient little guy. I know he’ll handle this with grace. I promise his foster family will do everything to keep him comfortable, loved, and mentally enriched.
2/21/23 Update: Here are the reasons why Sir Mugsy Littlebottom should be your Valentine…..
First off, he gives great hugs. If you’re feeling down, a little chilly, or happen to have a cheeseburger you weren’t planning to eat, a patented “Mug Hug” is sure to brighten your day.
You like kisses? The heck with those pesky humans. Mugsy will make you (and that cheeseburger you definitely aren’t going to eat) feel like the most important thing in the world.
Unlike most significant others, Mugsy won’t hog the bathroom in the morning. This boy is potty trained from the get-go!
Look, we know diamonds are expensive, and chocolates are cliche. All Mugsy needs for Valentine’s Day is a bit of kibble! If you’re feeling generous, you could also give him part of that cheeseburger you definitely, positively aren’t going to eat.
Finally, he’s your soulmate. Just one look from these puppy dog eyes and you’ll be sure you’ve found the love of your life. Just don’t forget the cheeseburger, please.
3/7/23 Update: I may be new to this whole “foster dog” business, but I’ve been a Bulldog my whole two years of life. Some of us aren’t known for our patience.
I would like my food now, please. More pets now, please. And maybe some of your dinner too? Look at these puppy dog eyes! C’mon, you know you can’t resist. Just one bite?
Luckily, Foster Mom says I’m a very sweet and polite gentleman. I love giving hugs and kisses. And I can’t wait to distract my new forever family with cuteness, while I scheme ways to get their food. I may not steal your heart, but I will steal your beef jerky. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’ll wind up with both.
Last week, I got to meet Dr. Larsen and started my heartworm treatment. Foster Mom says I’m so brave and a good boy about having to be on restricted activity. She says it may be a few months while I’m on medical hold before I can move into my forever home, but I’ll be worth the wait.
4/21/23 Update: Mugsy got a reprieve from his heartworm treatment activity restriction last weekend. He got to go to our neighborhood Easter parade and he did great! He stuck by foster dad’s side most of the time, but was very sweet with everyone who came up to pet him – adults, kids…. he loved the attention and spreading the word about rescue.
5/5/23 Update: My foster mom dropped me off at the vet clinic for my neuter today. I was a perfect gentleman durning the long car ride. I curled up in the front seat and took a snooze. I charmed everyone at the desk when I checked into my surgery suite for the night. I’m so excited – very soon I’ll be ready for my forever home. I’ll be looking over the approved applications while I recover.
