Sister G here, checking in after my first holiday and just over a week at my new home!
Guess what? I’m keeping my name, Sister Guacamole, because it’s the best name ever!
My new mom and I have been enjoying each other’s company, and I’ve had fun exploring my new home. Mom even let me choose my favorite chair—it’s her Bulldog Hoover’s chair, so you know it’s a good one. I’ve got several comfy beds around the house, and we’ve already been on some fun adventures. We’ve been to work (where mom’s co-workers absolutely loved me), Home Depot, a local pet store, and even out to eat! So many exciting new experiences in such a short time.
Thanksgiving was a blast—I ate tons, and when we went for a walk, I got to meet some new neighbors. I absolutely love my new home, my new mom, and this wonderful new life.
A huge thank you to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue for helping me find my perfect home!
And just like that, Sister Guacamole Zoe is back with us! If she has any regrets about her previous behavior, she certainly isn’t showing it.
After she was adopted, Sister Guacamole Zoe had a fantastic life at first, complete with a 120-pound Bulldog brother. Initially, everything seemed perfect. However, as time went on, Sister Guacamole Zoe started to assert her dominance. The family was able to monitor their dogs through cameras, and as long as the humans weren’t around, Sister Guacamole Zoe was a model companion. She and her Bulldog brother got along just fine in their absence.
But when the family came home, Sister Guacamole Zoe’s true colors showed. She became increasingly possessive, refusing to let anyone interact with anyone but her. Jealousy took over, and while her big Bulldog brother never retaliated, he often ended up walking away with Sister Guacamole Zoe clinging to him.
Eventually, the family realized that Sister Guacamole Zoe’s behavior wasn’t going to change. She craved the spotlight and refused to share it. Though it was a difficult decision—one made with heavy hearts—they knew that returning her for a chance at a new home where she could reign as the sole pet would be the best option.
So, welcome back, Sister Guacamole Zoe! Let’s find you a new home where you can be the queen, surrounded by people who will adore you without any canine competition. Here’s to a fresh start and a life where you’re the one and only star!
Before you start to snicker about my name, just know I love it. I actually decided that this was the best name ever for me.
You see, every time I would go to a Mexican restaurant for lunch, the waiter would ask me “Do you want to add guac?” and I would say, “Of course!” And then they would say, “That’s extra!” I’d roll my eyes and say, “Yeah, and I’m worth it. I’m extra too!”
Yup, I am the cherry on top. The bee’s knees. I’m all that and a bag of chips. The creme de le creme and the jewel in the crown! Let’s just say I am the “whole enchilada!” That’s why I’m known as Sister Guacamole Zoe.
I am 3 years old and I’ve had some baby guacamoles, but those days are over. I am looking for a retirement home where I will have my own cabana boy to fan only me. I weigh 40 lbs. and I love all dogs, cats and kids. I walk great on a leash, and if the car door is open, I can jump right in.
I have a date with Dr. Larsen in the future to have some medical needs addressed and after that, I will need a family to adopt me. It’s almost time to sit on the patio, sip a beverage and enjoy some great Mexican food… with extra guac.
3/2/24 Update: I have been in my foster family for about a week now and I’m doing great! I love hanging out with my two fur foster brothers, even though I’m half their size. I am learning how to play and a couple of commands. Up to this point, I have been focused on being a mom, but now it’s time to focus on me!
In a couple of weeks, I’ll be heading back to Dr. Larsen to get a couple of things taken care of. Then, I’ll be ready for my new family. Do you think I might be a fit for your family? Well, get your application in now and maybe we’ll be a match.
3/5/24 Update: Sister Guac had so much fun at the Irish Festival yesterday! She was a model Bulldog, loving on all of the people and sniffing all the dogs. She stayed away from the ferrets on leashes though. They were just strange! Haha!
She was exhausted by the end of the day, although she refused to admit it! We can’t wait for next year!
3/13/24 Update: Hello, soon-to-be spring! Foster mom has been busy gardening. I have been busy supervising. I think that I am the perfect complement to any outdoor space! Do you need help with your garden? I just might be your girl
3/29/24 Update: Hello avocado fans! It’s me, Sister Guacamole Zoe. I know that I’ve been MIA for a bit, but I needed to get a few things taken care of.
About two weeks ago, Dr. Larsen made sure my baby-making days are over. She also took care of a hernia that had me practically dragging the ground. Oh, she also fixed a couple of abscessed nipples (ouch) and my cherry eye. Whew! That’s a lot! It’s kind of like when you take your car in for the 100,000 mile tune-up.
I am not a fan of this cone, eye meds or being quiet. I am healing nicely and, yesterday, Doc gave me the thumbs up to start reviewing our approved applications! Woohoo! I might need a little help because these eye meds make me all squinty. You better get your application in ASAP. You may be the one taking this beautiful new nipped and tucked body to my happily ever after!
4/9/24 Update: I’m here with a story to tell! This morning, I got up for a spa day so I would look fabulous for today’s Pizza Paw-ty at Campisi’s in Rockwall. I’m going to refer to this as my first coming-out day!
I even had a new pink harness to wear. And of all things, it was too big! I was hysterical. I thought how can that be? No amount of adjusting was gonna make that harness fit me.
My foster mom went and found her a French Bulldog harness to put it on me.
Me? A Bulldog wearing a French Bulldog harness? Have you ever heard of such a thing?
So, when you see me today at the pizza paw-ty, please ignore my harness and try to envision how pretty I could have looked in PINK.
5/16/23 Update: I spent Mother’s Day helping in the yard and taking care of the flowers for my foster mom. It was a labor of love. I’m thinking that having these quality skills elevates my potential as a potential family member. I mean, someone who needs help with their flowerbeds may be interested in adopting, right? I’m ready for my very own family now.
9/27/24 Update: I heard I moved in with my Foster Mom so she could give me “shots.” Wait, what? That sounds a bit scary!
Dr. Larsen mentioned that one of my test results means I need a special medication that can only be given through shots—plus lots of fluids. That means even more needles. I’m a little tired of all the poking, but I’m a brave girl! My Foster Mom gives me a peanut butter mat to keep my tongue and taste buds busy while I get my fluids.
When I’m outside, I love watching the neighbors and everyone who walks by. I did get a little spooked when a loud motorcycle roared by—I jumped and did a full 360! My Foster Mom was so impressed with my gymnastics skills and said we’d work on building my confidence. Who knows? Maybe I could become a fantastic security dog one day!
10/11/24 Update: I’m not one to be cooped up—I’m a climber at heart!
This past week, I scaled the sides of my 36-inch pen more times than I can count, even spilling my water in the process, all in my quest for freedom. My foster mom tried to put a “pergola” on top to keep me in, but I managed to escape that too! So, the next step was the crate, which I only use at night now. During the day? I’m free-roaming and loving it! (My plan worked……)
Just the other day, I went for a ride to pick up the foster grandkid from school. I couldn’t stop looking for him while we were stuck in the carpool line—it felt like it took forever! But once I saw him, I settled in for a nice nap on his lap all the way home.
I adore kids and people, and I’m always up for chatting with the other dogs in the house—as long as there’s a gate between us! Some of them can be a bit intimidating. And those neighborhood dogs barking at me? Not a fan! I even tried to pull my foster mom over to tell them to quiet down! But aside from that, I’m always on guard, watching over my territory.
If you’re looking for a loyal watchdog, a cuddly lap dog, or an expert escape artist, consider adopting me! I’ll be here, waiting for my happily ever after.
11/15/24 Update: Here’s what I’ve been up to lately!
Bull-O-Ween: I had a blast and everyone loved me!
Meet and greet: I wasn’t a fan of the other dogs, so I kept my distance. Not my thing.
Pizza Paw-ty: I had a great time, ate some pizza, and made sure to spread the love to everyone there!
At home: I’ve been hanging out at the house, and, oops, I jumped at alumnus Walter when he tried to pass by me. My bad!
Accidents: I’ve had a few accidents indoors… Foster Mom thinks I did it on purpose. Honestly, she might be right!
Chewing: I started chewing on Foster Dad’s suitcase zippers.. But he left it by my bed, so what was I supposed to do?
It’s been a bit of a slow few weeks, but hey, today is a new week, and I’m ready for more adventures!
