T-Bone Pickens

T-Bone Pickens

Tom knew he was getting the “best of the best” with T-Bone Pickens despite his small quirk.

You see, T-Bone LOVES leather. When you least expect it, T-bone will pass you in the hall with your favorite leather shoe. T-Bone will have no problem finding cowboy boots at Tom’s, considering Tom’s from the country and has horses.

For Tom, it was sill love at first sight. It’s been a few years since Tom had a Bulldog, but he was ready to love again.  And T-Bone is a big love bug.

T-Bone now lives in the West Austin area and will want for nothing. He’ll be a ranch hand, a best friend for Tom’s granddaughter and buddies with a goat.

T-Bone never looked back and Tom laughed aloud when he told T-Bone about his boot collection. It simply was a match made in Bulldog heaven.

And just like that, another piece of my heart heads to a new home, which makes the rest of my heart oh-so happy.

Even though I’m only about 1 year old, I have a tale to tell!

First, I got lost and was picked up by animal services. At the shelter, I patiently waited and watched the door for my family to come in to find me.

Well, after waiting for what seemed like a really long time, I realized no one was missing me and no one was coming for me.

I quickly became the shelter favorite. I decided my new shelter friends who named me T-Bone Pickens were going to be my new family. They told me to prepare myself because there was going to be a little surgery and I would lose that “loving feeling.” I was prepared.

On surgery day, my nose was running and I had a cough. They shelter staff said they were sorry I was sick and that there would be no surgery that day. They walked me back to my suite and I started on medication.

Fast forward 10 days to today. I was headed down the surgery hall and all of a sudden, I sneezed on all my friends. It was not a pretty sight. No one had a hanky and I was so embarrassed.

My best friend got down on her knee and gave me the news that I was still sick. So, it was no surgery again for me. It was then decided that I was not going to get any better in the environment in which I was living. My upper respiratory issues were getting worse.

So today, the rescue wagon that had been waiting for me for three weeks,  pulled up and I waved goodbye to everyone.

I have not only a suite now, but an entire bedroom for my rest and recovery. I have an assistant who gives me meds. Oh, and a color TV.

When I am well, I’ll return to the shelter for my neuter and then, I’ll go back to the rescue so I can meet my next family!

5/24/24 Update:  I’m checking in from my TFH (temporary foster house) where I am having a sleepover! It is finally “harvest” day and I am feeling better and healthy. The snipping will be done today and before long, I will be looking for my next family.

I got to play a little with the resident Nuggie and met some other bullies here who just barked at me…. Rude! I just looked at them and continued on my way.

My TFM (temporary foster mom) said I am the perfect Bulldog! I am playful, nice and super handsome. Plus, I get along with everydoggy. She said my next family is going to be so lucky to have me.
