Tank Chapman (now Diego)

Tank Chapman (now Diego)

1/12/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: From the moment Tank Chapman entered his foster home, he quickly became a favorite. With so many wonderful Bulldog qualities, it was no easy thing to say goodbye.Tank Chapman is a special boy who needed a family willing to give him time, patience and lots of love as he settled into a new chapter. And along came the perfect match.

Marisela and Alex had recently said goodbye to their beloved Bulldog, Sebastian, and were ready to open their hearts again. The moment they saw Tank Chapman, it was love at first sight.

Now known as Diego, this lucky boy is going to be absolutely spoiled rotten! His new parents are the kind of Bulldog lovers who throw birthday parties for their pups and they’ve already started teaching Diego commands in Spanish. Yes, Diego is officially bilingual!

Congratulations to Diego and his wonderful new family. We couldn’t be happier for all of them!

10/25/25 INTRODUCTION: Please join us in welcoming Tank Chapman, a 4-year-old Bulldog, to our rescue family. ❤️

Tank Chapman’s dad could hardly hold back the tears as he watched his best friend walk toward the transport truck. He never imagined that the dog he’d loved all his life would need a new home, but sometimes, life happens, and things get hard. Tank Chapman wasn’t getting the time, attention or vet care he needed, so with a heavy heart, his dad made the brave decision to let him go so Tank could have a better life.

Right now, Tank is being treated for infections in his ears and tail fold, which have made him a bit sensitive about being touched. Because of that, he’ll do best in an adult-only home where he can heal and feel secure.

Like many Bulldogs, Tank has been nervous after leaving the only home he’s ever known. But every day, he’s relaxing a little more, showing us glimpses of the sweet, loyal boy underneath the worry. With love, care, and time, we know this handsome guy will earn his “Good Bulldog Citizen Award” in no time! 🏅

1/2/26 UPDATE: We’re working to match Tank Chapman to the best family for him! Tank Chapman has been in his foster home for about six weeks. He originally came to recover from soft palate surgery and is now 100% healed. Since May, this foster family has cared for 12 dogs, and they tell us Tank Chapman has been, by far, one of the easiest and most enjoyable foster dogs they’ve had.

At 4 years old, Tank Chapman is the perfect balance of playful and sweet. He loves toys more than any foster before him and can usually be found happily carrying one around throughout the day. He is fully potty trained, eats and drinks neatly, takes treats gently and allows his facial folds to be cleaned without any hesitation.

Tank Chapman is excellent in the car, walks beautifully on a leash, understands verbal corrections like “no” and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. The only minor dislikes noted are the household cat and the vacuum cleaner, both fairly typical quirks.

Tank Chapman also does wonderfully with other dogs. When he met the foster family’s female dog, they became fast friends almost immediately. While she can be a bit sassy at times, Tank Chapman never reacts negatively. He has also done very well with children; during Christmas, he was calm, gentle and appropriate around two young nieces visiting the home.

And here’s where we are today.

Tank Chapman has experienced two short, unsuccessful adoptions. In one home, concerns were reported regarding interactions with another dog; in another, concerns were reported regarding interactions with a child. These behaviors have not been observed in Tank Chapman’s foster home, and at this time it remains unclear what factors may have contributed to the differences seen in those environments.

A general note for all:
Rescue dogs, even those with wonderful manners, often need time to adjust when transitioning into a new home. One helpful framework many rescues share is the 3-3-3 Rule, which outlines a typical adjustment timeline:

3 days to decompress

3 weeks to learn routines and expectations

3 months to feel fully settled and at home

This information is shared purely as general education and support, and is not specific to Tank Chapman’s previous placements. Every dog and every home is different, and transitions can look different each time.

Tank Chapman is a truly special boy who has shown himself to be affectionate, gentle and easygoing in foster care. With the right match, one that understands the importance of patience and transition time, Tank Chapman has all the qualities of a wonderful lifelong companion. His perfect family is out there, and we know he is well worth the wait.
