3/17/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From Toast: I have some BIG news… I found my family! 🎉
My foster mom had been talking and texting with my new mom ever since my surgery (remember my cherry eye and entropion fixes?), and she kept telling me all about them. They’re wonderful and even adopted before, so I knew I was in good hands.
I finally got to meet my new mom and dad on Saturday. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous at first… but then the treats came out, and things started looking much better. We took it nice and slow, and before long I was feeling more comfortable.
My foster mom sent me off with a packed bag full of all my favorite things: my toys, food and supplements. Of course Mr. Carrot, Piggy and Furby made the trip, and my foster sister Gracie even gifted me her Big Banana (I’ll treasure it forever).
I did great on the ride home and I’m settling in with my new family, including my Bulldog brother Odin and sister Freya.
Oh—and I have a new name now… Loki Toast. Pretty cool, right?
Thank you to everyone who helped me on my journey. I’m one lucky pup, and I can’t wait to start this next chapter with my family.

12/31/25 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Toast to our rescue family! From volunteer Sonia: Toast is a sweet soul who’s leaving behind his past and stepping into a future filled with love.
Toast is about 1 year old, weighs around 50 pounds and has a special fondness for stuffed toys that squeak. He’s said to know some basic commands, is very active and would benefit from continued training to help him make good choices, like chewing appropriate toys and keeping the trash where it belongs. He may do best in a home without young children, where he can continue to succeed as a good boy. We’ll be working to match him with one of our approved applicants.
We know this New Year will bring him warm beds, full bowls, long walks, endless belly rubs and a family to call his own.
Here’s to second chances, amazing adoptive families and the very best boy. Cheers to you, Toast!
1/12/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Toast is a young, energetic guy and 100% puppy in every sense of the word. He loves toys, loves to play, and brings happy, bouncy energy wherever he goes.
Along with that puppy enthusiasm, Toast has a softer, more sensitive side. He’s a bit shy around doorways and new spaces and likes to take his time exploring. If gates and doors are open, he’ll peek around corners, then happily retreat back to the dog room or zip outside through the doggy door. He’ll come back in on his own, though sometimes he needs a little encouragement to pass through certain doorways, especially the sunroom.
Toast is great with all the dogs in the house and has a sweet, submissive nature. When it comes to affection, he truly loves it, but he may cower at first until he realizes he’s only there to be loved on. Once he knows he’s safe, he melts right in.
Like any puppy, Toast enjoys chewing and occasionally forgets what isn’t his to chew on. He likes to jump but isn’t over-the-top about it, and he’s learning manners. He’ll sit when told “no,” though he may need a reminder later. Because of his puppy energy and enthusiasm, he may do best with older or dog-savvy kids.
Toast will be heading to his neuter in early February and will be ready for his next home shortly after.
Toast at a glance:
*About 98% house-trained
*No marking
*Does not enjoy the crate and becomes stressed when confined
*Knows “sit”
*Dog-friendly
*Sweet, submissive personality
*100% perfect at the vet
*Small build, big puppy heart
Toast is a playful, gentle boy who just needs patience, consistency and lots of love as he grows into his confidence.
2/3/26 UPDATE ~ Foster boy Toast (aka Toasty, Toast Malone, Toaster-Boy, Toast-tino) checking in!
I’ve been in my foster home for about two weeks now, and while the world still feels a little scary, I’m making progress every day. I’m learning to trust doorways, sudden movements, loud noise… and even people. One brave step at a time.
I’ve met all the other dogs here and get along well with everyone, though at just over a year old, my puppy energy can be a lot for some of them. I’ve started playing with toys and discovered that Benebones are pretty amazing. I’m also not picky when it comes to food or treats. I love all the fresh veggies and fruits!
I weigh about 42 pounds right now, but I’ve still got some growing to do. Foster Mom thinks I’ll land somewhere around 50–55 pounds when I’m all grown up.
I do have a small surgery in my future. Foster Mom keeps calling it my “Peach Harvest,” which honestly sounds intriguing. 🍑😄
Thanks for cheering me on while I learn that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.
3/3/26 UPDATE ~ From foster dog Toast: I finally got to meet Dr. Larsen. I thought it was just a quick “nice to meet you” visit… but surprise! It was actually a sleepover. Total setup.
Next thing I know, there was a little “peach harvest” 🍑🥜 happening. It all went by so fast… awake, snooze, awake again. When I came to, I felt a little lighter, my eyes were a bit sore and I had this plastic satellite dish around my neck. Turns out I needed a peach harvest and entropion surgery to fix my peepers.
The good news? I’m healing nicely! The stitches are a little itchy, but I’m being brave about it.
This plastic cone thing is pretty annoying, but it hasn’t slowed me down one bit. I can still play, patrol the house and even “pin” a grandkid who tries to steal my carrot. Priorities.
And how about these Dino PJs? Stylish and practical.
My stitches come out later this week, and once they do, I’ll be officially ready to find my next home. Stay tuned… this Toaster is almost fully baked!
