Wednesday

Wednesday

When the first post about these two besties, Pugsley and Wednesday, went out on social media, I noticed a comment from a couple in New York who said they’d put in an application and were willing to do whatever it took to adopt these two adorable pups.

After their application was fully approved, Sid didn’t hesitate—he jumped in his truck and drove through some of the worst weather imaginable, including flooding, hail, and even a tornado siren or two, just to meet them in person. Lu stayed behind to run the family business, but Sid’s connection with Pugsley and Wednesday was instant, and they felt the same way. It was truly a match made in Texas!

Now, take a moment to look at the background of the adoption photo. If you zoom in, you’ll see the TV was on, and the caption “You Belong” was displayed right above Sid and the pups. Full-body chills, right?!

So, Bulldog Nation, even though I’ve lost 160 lbs. and a couple pieces of my heart today, I know these two couldn’t have found a better start to their new life. For anyone thinking about adopting from Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue, just know—if you’re willing to go the distance, you can gain 160 lbs. too!

Pugsley and Wednesday were just two sweet, trusting souls riding along in a truck, being the good dogs they are. But when the truck stopped, the unimaginable happened. The driver opened the door, let them out, and drove away without looking back.

These innocent babies stood there, confused and abandoned. Another kind-hearted driver saw them, turned his truck around, and picked them up. That man saved their lives, though even he couldn’t fathom the cruelty he had just witnessed.

He took them home, hoping, praying that someone must be looking for these beautiful dogs. Maybe they had been stolen and the crook dumped them? Surely, they couldn’t have been dumped intentionally. But days passed, and no one came forward. Apparently, no one was looking for Pugsley and Wednesday because someone had decided they weren’t worth keeping.

How? How could anyone do this to them? They are everything a dog should be—loving, sweet and full of life.

Thankfully, Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue was there to step in. When the rescue wagon arrived, Pugsley and Wednesday climbed into another truck, as if hoping this one would take them to a better life. They curled up together, quiet and trusting, despite all they had been through.

Now safe, warm, and loved, Pugsley and Wednesday have shown us just how amazing they are. These apparent siblings are as sweet as they come. Wednesday, the leader, is quick to cuddle and loves nothing more than being close to her humans. Pugsley, her goofy and lovable brother, follows her lead, letting her eat first and always staying by her side.

We don’t know if they are truly bonded or just two siblings who have always been together, but their connection is undeniable. They mirror each other’s movements and seem to find comfort in their shared presence. One thing is certain—they deserve love and stability, something they likely have never known until now.

They need medical care—eye surgery, spaying/neutering, vaccines, and more—but what they need most is a promise. A promise that they will never be abandoned again. A promise that they will be cherished for the rest of their lives.

We’ll never understand why someone could look at these sweet souls and decide they weren’t worth keeping. But we do know this: Pugsley and Wednesday ARE worth it. They deserve families who will love them as deeply as they love in return.

If you’re as enraged by their story as we are, we hope you’ll help us change it. Donate to their care, share their story, and when the time comes, help us find them a family who will never let them down.

They’ve been let down before. Let’s make sure it never happens again.

3/14/25 Update:  Pugsley and Wednesday reporting in.

It’s been a week since we arrived, and foster mom says we are the best, kindest, sweetest pups! We love each other and all the other critters at the A5. We share our toys, beds and we would even share our food. We are great in our crates, and our house training is still a work in progress but getting better every day.

We had a little eye surgery before we arrived and we are almost done with our eye meds. We really like getting the drops now because we get TREATS! After all, that makes it very exciting.

Foster mom calls us the lovable marshmallows, when we are in our beds, we look like melted mallows, so anyone looking for the best matched set please consider us.
