For 521 days Zoey B and Mason B have called rescue home. But now that have changed their status from “foster home to forever home.”
521 days of challenges with ups and downs along the way. Mason has suffered from aspiration pneumonia. He had been diagnosed with two lesions on his right lung, one that is potentially cancerous, and he continues to be monitored with x-rays. Mason is also partially blind, and his eyes will always be treated for KCS in addition to his weekly medicated bathes for his fur issues. He does not understand or want to play with toys. He also marks his beds daily. But his Mom diligently puts his eye meds in 3 times a day and changes his bedding out multiple times a day and gives him all the love and cuddles he wants every day.
Zoey has suffered from a tick born illness, multiple bladder infections and after many tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and surgeries she also has bladder stones. Zoey also joined rescue with Pyometra (uterus filled with infection) which can be deadly if not immediately treated. Zoey also has chronic cystitis, so she needs to always be on a special food, antibiotics and pain management. Zoey has learned to trust, loves playtime, toys and cuddles and love from everyone.
Enough about Zoey and Mason and their medial challenges. Jennifer and Alex tied the knot this week and what a better way to celebrate than to add Zoey and Mason to their home permanently on their special day. After all, they have loved them since the day I dropped them off at their home to foster them. Not many people would dedicate themselves to making sure Zoey and Mason had everything they needed to live their best life ever! But Jennifer and Alex are two amazing people who got married and adopted two special bulldogs all on the same day.
The world needs more people like these two. So, welcome to the Ross clan Mason Baxter Ross and Zoey Bernice Ross you will be loved and cherished forever.
Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce myself and my best friend. You see we just joined rescue yesterday. We are a bonded pair. It has been a whirlwind for us. My foster mom down south saw an ad for bulldogs for sale. When she talked to the owner, he said he had to get rid of both of them as soon as possible, if not, they would have to be shot! Yes, that is what he said to her. She got in her car as soon as possible and ran down to South Texas to get us. Then she took us home to safety.
The only problem was that she did not know a lot about bulldog issues and treatment. You see my lovely lady and I produced lots and lots of beautiful puppies for these people and when we could not do that anymore, he just decided that we were not even worth the dog food to feed us. Can you believe that? Well my foster mom met these really nice ladies at an adoption event in Belton, recently and she said please, please, please let us help you out with these bulldogs, so foster mom decided that that was what she would do.
Then these really nice ladies drove all day to come and get us and bring us home. They kept talking about how handsome I was and how beautiful my love was. You see, we are a bonded pair. We love each other sooooo much I don’t think we could bear to be apart. It was all our babies that made us love and need each other so much.
The nice rescue ladies told us about Dr. Larson and her lap, and how she could fix my eyes so that I can see a little better, and my love’s skin so she can shine like the star that she is. Maybe one of you can help us out by fostering us while we recover and start our new life with our furever family.
Please follow our story and fall in love with us like everyone else has. We will be sending photos of our journey. Thanks for listening!
11/30/22 Update: Hiya! Mason and Zoey checking in!
We got to our new foster home a few days ago!
It took some time to adjust because we weren’t sure what to do first! So we decided to run around and see our new digs… give kisses…snuggles…eat lots of food…and then hit repeat. Now that we have settled in a bit we really just like to just follow the humans around the house, see if we can get some snacks while foster mom cooks, go for short walks in the sunshine and find good spots to take naps. We hope you will enjoy watching our journey to find our forever family.
12/13/22 Update: From foster boy Mason B: Zoey B and I have been learning lots of new fun things this week. Zoey learned that toys are really fun to play with and it’s her new favorite thing. I learned that if I sit by the door, the humans will let me outside to go potty. That way, I don’t have to potty inside or on my bed. And I get a treat when I come back inside!
1/31/23 Update: We had a blast last week during our stay with a vacation foster family. We met a bunch of other dogs, played outside in the big backyard and snuggled in bed with all of them! It was so much fun! Hopefully, we will get to go visit with them again soon.
6/26/23 Update: For the life of me, I’m unsure how Zoey B has not been adopted. She’s been pitter pattering thru our house for the last three weeks and has been a wonderful and charming house guest.
Slightly hard of seeing, she gets AMPED when you come into her vision. Her little feet stamping and dancing, precious little snorts and then occasionally a little love nibble as you pet her. Charming, I tell you!
She loves a short walk to the mailbox and is quite fast for a lady of her size. She does love a race to her big fluffy bed after her nightly constitutional. Such a pretty and sweet lady!
