Chuy Mark

9/23/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Chuy Mark to our rescue family! At just 3 years old, this beautiful Bulldog once knew the comfort of indoor life. He had a warm home and experienced gentle hands and the love every dog deserves.

But then everything changed. A divorce shattered the stability he knew, and the aftermath is written all over him… in the photos, in his eyes, in the toll neglect has taken.

Chuy Mark didn’t stop being sweet. He didn’t stop remembering what love felt like. He remembers when he mattered… when his coat was full, his bowl was filled and he was part of a family.

Then came the silence… the backyard… the bare minimum.

But today, Chuy Mark’s story takes a turn. Today, he is saved.

He will be loved, cared for and cherished. And soon, he’ll find a home… one where he’ll never be forgotten again.

Because Chuy Mark isn’t just a rescue dog. He’s someone’s everything, waiting to be found.

12/13/25 UPDATE: When Chuy Mark first came to our rescue family, his story broke our hearts. He once knew the comfort of indoor life, gentle hands, and the love every dog deserves. But after a divorce turned his world upside down, the stability he knew disappeared. The neglect that followed showed in his body, in his eyes, and in the way he quietly remembered what it felt like to matter.

Still, Chuy Mark never stopped being sweet. He never forgot love.

A week ago, volunteer Carol picked up Chuy Mark to foster him, and watching him hop into the car was a reminder of who he truly is. This boy loves the car and couldn’t wait to get in… like he knew he was finally heading somewhere safe again.

Chuy Mark has since been neutered and is being treated for several medical issues. He will need eye medication for life and has ongoing skin concerns. He is also extremely thin (you can literally see his spine) so his food was recently changed in hopes of helping him gain weight. Unfortunately, that caused some diarrhea, so Carol added pumpkin and are hopeful things will improve soon.

He also has an enlarged prostate, which has caused some bleeding, but he is on medication and being closely monitored.

And yet… as far as Chuy Mark knows, nothing is wrong.

All he wants is to be by Carol’s side, soaking up pets, leaning in close and reminding us all how resilient love can be. At about 6 years old, he still enjoys running around (and would absolutely chase cars if given the chance!). He has so much life left in him and so much love to give.

This holiday season, Chuy Mark is warm, safe and surrounded by care. He just needs to be reminded every day that he matters… that he always has… and that one day soon, he’ll find the home where he’ll never be forgotten again.

Because Chuy Mark isn’t just a rescue dog. He’s someone’s everything… still waiting to be found.

12/16/25 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Poor Chuy Mark~ he didn’t want o wear the awesome Hanukkah glasses we picked up for him. Maybe there was just a little too much wine involved for him to fully cooperate?😉

On the good news front, the pumpkin has been helping quite a bit! We’re seeing more solid stools (yay!), and while there is still some blood present, it’s noticeably less than before, which has us feeling hopeful.

Potty training isn’t quite perfect yet, but Chuy Mark has been doing well most of the time with the potty pads provided, and he continues to make progress.

Where we are struggling is with his interactions with the resident curmudgeon, Colt. Initially, we thought the tension was mostly food-related, but it now it could be more. Of course, Colt can be vocal when another dog gets too close, so Chuy Mark may be reacting to that. At this point, we’re not sure if Chuy Mark may ultimately need to be an only dog, but we’d really love for him to have the chance to see how he does with friendlier, more easygoing dogs.

Because they need to be kept separated, Chuy Mark has chosen to sleep right outside my door, despite having both a crate and a comfy dog bed in the living room. He truly wants to be near his person and absolutely loves scratches, pets and affection.

We’re hoping one of our approved applicants will see Chuy Mark for the sweet boy he is and give him all the love he deserves. Let’s help him find his perfect match!
