1/17/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Delilah Maryann to our rescue family! She writes: On Wednesday, my brother and I officially joined rescue! Best of all, I didn’t have to do it alone. I got to leave with my brother, which made my heart so happy. It had been quite a while since I’d last seen him, as my other brothers and sister had already gone on to their new homes some time ago.
I was born on June 22, 2025. When I was younger, I had a family who loved me, but sadly I was returned to my original home when the children developed allergies. It was confusing, but I tried to be brave. I’m a bit on the shy side… more of a quiet observer who takes in the world at her own pace.
When we were born, our mama had ten puppies. That’s a lot of mouths to feed! She always told me I was her favorite, and I choose to believe her. Everywhere I go, people stop to tell me how beautiful I am, and that always makes my tail wag. I love gentle ear scratches and playing with toys, especially when someone joins in the fun.
Now that I’m safe with rescue, I’m looking ahead to a new home where I’ll truly belong. I need a family who will make me part of their everyday life. Walks together, cozy couch cuddles, quiet companionship… I’d love nothing more than to share those moments with someone who appreciates the same.
Thank you for caring about rescue dogs like me. I can’t wait to meet my future family and begin our next adventure together.
With love,
Delilah Maryann

3/1/26 UPDATE ~ From Delilah Maryann’s foster momma: Delilah Maryann is a pure delight. And it’s her soft, sweet nature that makes my heart ache for her all the more. This girl… my goodness… I’ve fallen completely head over heels.
She is so gentle. So grateful. So endearing.
But she is also timid, easily startled and quick to scamper away.
Her velvet-soft face, squishy little paws and silky coat make her absolutely breathtaking. Yet when I look into her eyes, I see apology… and insecurity. It’s as though she’s unsure she’s allowed to take up space.
Being inside is still very scary for Delilah Maryann. She trembles and jumps at the most ordinary sounds, even me sniffing because of hay fever! At first, it was nearly impossible to coax her out of her crate (which, to be fair, is a luxury suite filled with every soft blanket in our house). Eventually, I discovered that placing her crate near the door gave her the courage to dart outside when we weren’t looking. A small win!
Getting her back inside has been another journey. She has spent so much time standing at our breakfast nook door, willing herself to come in, watching our happy household from a safe distance, only to retreat ten paces at the slightest fright.
We’ve tried it all: gentle encouragement, playful invitations, tasty temptations and sometimes simply going about our day calmly so she can observe without pressure. Progress has been slow but steady. A few steps forward, a few back. Patience and consistency are helping. Now she’ll come inside and make a beeline for her crate, slowly settling into a routine.
One of my happiest moments came while I was cooking dinner and chatting away to her. I turned around and there she was… lying on the floor outside her crate. It felt monumental.
The kids absolutely adore her, and she is so gentle and loving with them. Her little tail becomes a blur whenever she gets attention.
She gets along beautifully with my pug and he is quite selective about who joins his inner circle. They romp together in the backyard (a bit rough-and-tumble, I must admit), but they look like they’re having the time of their lives.
Delilah Maryann doesn’t know any commands yet, but we’ll focus on that once her worries quiet down. She walks fairly well on leash. Some zigzagging, some freezing at unfamiliar sounds, but she clearly enjoys her daily outings.
For now, we’re concentrating on one thing: helping her understand love and showing her how it feels to be unconditional.
And little by little, she’s beginning to believe it.
3/14/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Our sweet girl Delilah Maryann has taken a few steps forward and a few steps back, but she remains as loving and gentle as ever.
We are completely besotted with Delilah, and little by little she’s continuing to grow in confidence. One big milestone this week: when we call her with a smile, she’ll now come inside on her own! She usually zooms straight to her crate and watches the world go by from her safe little spot.
Her daily walks are a highlight of her day. That’s when we see her adorable little swagger come out. She absolutely adores her fur brother and often seeks comfort from him, and her human siblings are another favorite. The butt wiggle she does when she sees them is the cutest thing ever.
We are continuing to love this girl with all our hearts and feel so lucky to be part of her foster journey.
3/21/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Delilah Marryann truly blossomed this week! 💛 She’s no longer just “okay” about coming inside. She’s now bounding through the door with confidence!
This sweet girl is soaking up all the love and kindness we’re giving her and using it to build a stronger foundation of trust and confidence. Where she once had to be carried into my office (doing her very best to melt into the floor) she now, after her morning cuddles and potty break, chooses to follow me in (with a little encouragement!) and settles in for her post-wakeup snooze on the bean bag next to my desk. She really is the most beautiful companion.
Delilah Marryann has also discovered the joy of after-dinner couch snuggles and happily joins whoever manages to sneak in some TV time. Not that we can actually hear the TV over her impressive “lawnmower” snore, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! We’re getting quite good at subtitles. 😄
Sweet as ever and gentle as can be, we are so incredibly proud of Delilah Marryann’s progress. Watching her confidence grow and enjoying her adorable smiles and snuffly cuddles has been an absolute joy.
4/5/26 UPDATE ~ We’re working to match Delilah Maryann to the right family for her! From her foster momma: Sweet Delilah Maryann is making wonderful progress as she works toward being ready for her next home.
Her confidence is growing, and this week she even found her voice! She has the best bark. I got to hear it late one night while I was working when she spotted a reflection in the window. She did a fantastic job “protecting” me and earned lots of praise (and a big thank-you hug!) for trusting her instincts and standing her ground instead of running away.
She continues to enjoy her daily walks with her best friend, our resident dog Scrappy. The two of them are so happy together. Delilah Maryann is getting used to the neighborhood dogs (some friendly, some not) and keeps up impressively well. And after a good walk, nothing beats a dip in the pool! She absolutely loves splashing around and snapping at the water.
We had a house full of 11-year-olds yesterday, and Delilah Maryann was in heaven, happily “judging” cheer stunts in the backyard. She truly adores children… playful and a little cheeky, she spent her time chasing the kids and stealing their slippers. She soaked up all the love and gentle attention. Of course, she’s still a baby, and keeping up with the big kids wore her out! Once everyone left, she crawled under her blankets and let out the loudest snores we’ve ever heard.
She still seems a bit fearful around adult men. During a recent visit from extended family, Delilah Maryann chose to observe from a separate room and didn’t feel as comfortable coming out until the guests had left, even though she had met them before.
That said, her trust in me (the feeder!) and the kids is unwavering. It’s heart-melting and such a joy. One of my favorite moments each day is our quiet “good morning” cuddle, snuggling her velvet-soft face as she wakes up. Her sleepy little expressions and warm, snuggly breath are pure sweetness. Delilah Maryann truly is a gift.
Delilah Maryann is planning to attend our April 12 Bulldog Bonanza at The London Baker. We hope you can join us too!
