Honey Bunz Babushka

11/6/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Honey Bunz Babushka to our rescue family! From volunteer Kayle: Who the heck leaves their cinnamon roll out on the street?

Meet Honey Bunz Babushka — yes, that’s her government name — found wandering as a stray. She’s chipped. She’s spayed. She clearly belonged to someone once… but when the shelter called, texted and emailed? Crickets.

So now she’s ours. And honestly, their loss. 💅

Honey Bunz Babushka is about 5 years old and weighs a whopping 37 pounds — which, for a Bulldog, is basically the equivalent of a “fun-sized” candy bar.

She’s wearing her fancy headgear because both ears had massive hematomas that were drained… and they’re still THIS huge. Like, cartoon-level huge. Imagine the worst earache of your life, times two. She still tilts her head, looks you dead in the eye, and leans in for pets. That’s the kind of girl she is. 🥹

If you’re keeping score, here’s her medical bingo card:

✔️Heartworm positive (high) — because of course she is.
✔️Chronic ear infections with ear canal narrowing.
✔️Eye infections and keratitis.
✔️Skin allergies (thank you, Texas).
✔️Arthritis and a little hind-end wobble.
✔️And she’s underweight — but we’ll fix that real quick.

Even after all that, this little pastry of a dog is sweet as sugar and polite as can be. She rode perfectly in the car, potties in the yard, and sits for treats like a tiny southern lady. She’s safe now and getting the royal treatment — and when she’s healed? Her before-and-afters are going to be legendary.

2/4/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Honey Bunz Babushka: I’m checking in from my bark-practice area! Bark practice is one of my favorite activities, right up there with napping and chasing the resident German Shepherd, Tobey. He occasionally needs a gentle reminder that I, Honey Bunz Babushka, am the true queen of this household. 👑

I’m doing amazingly well with house training… most of the time. I did briefly assume that one of the bathroom rugs was an acceptable potty spot, but apparently that was a step too far. Lesson learned (mostly).

I’ve had a bit of a rash pop up over the last couple of weeks, but my foster parents are on top of it and it’s already improving. I even snuck in a medicated shower with my dad the other night. I was an absolute lady, joined in the fun, and earned a few well-deserved treats for being so cooperative.

I have a very nice condo (also known as my crate) that I’ve decorated effortlessly, and I sleep there every night. My foster peeps are endlessly entertained by my habit of sitting very still, staring off into space, and barking at important things, like built-in cabinets or imaginary birds outside. I also enjoy watching TV from time to time. 📺

Life is good, I am doing well and my foster home remains under my watchful supervision.

3/3/26 JUPDATE ~ From foster girl Honey Bunz Babushka: Life is very good these days. I’m wrapping up my 30-day post–heartworm treatment rest period this Friday, and once I get the all-clear, I’ll officially be ready to party… and by party, I mean meet my next family!

In the meantime, I’ve been having an excellent time with the two resident cats. Sometimes we even nap together. Yes, I’m that versatile. I may be tiny, but I’m a confident little force of nature and can absolutely hold my own in household “discussions.”

I’ll admit, I’m having a blast with my foster parents, my foster brother and all the other four-legged life forms around here. I’ve been sleeping on the big bed with my foster folks (LOVING it, by the way), but I’m also perfectly content in a crate. I’m flexible like that.

Mealtime? No issues at all. I might do a quick inspection of the other bowls afterward. Purely for quality control purposes.

I’m extremely loving, easygoing, amazingly adorable (not to brag… but it’s true), and I’m fully on board with using the backyard for my personal business. I even have a curated list of favorite TV channels I enjoy keeping up with.

Now all I need is my next family to show just how perfectly I fit into their world.

3/16/26 UPDATE ~ From Honey Bunz Babushka’s foster momma: Honey Bunz Babushka officially completed her post–heartworm rest like a champ! No issues at all, and she’s ready to enjoy life again.

This adorable little lady may be on the smaller side, but her personality is anything but small. Honey Bunz is incredibly smart, deeply devoted to her foster humans and very passionate about mealtime (though always polite about it). She’s housetrained, with only the occasional rare accident.

She loves car rides and recently went on a little “excursion” with her foster dad around the cul-de-sac with the top down. She seemed especially intrigued by the stick shift…. clearly considering adding driving lessons to her résumé.

Honey Bunz is also a very cooperative patient. She takes her daily eye drops twice a day without fuss and handles her care like a pro. According to the vet, she’ll likely always be a bit of an allergy girl, which sometimes shows up as a skin rash. Thankfully, it’s easy to manage with a simple spray on her belly and the occasional Benadryl.

When she’s not out supervising car rides, Honey Bunz enjoys relaxing and watching television with her people. The best part? She has yet to complain about a single show we’ve picked.

She is truly one of the sweetest, smartest, most loving Bulldogs we’ve fostered and she’s going to make an absolutely wonderful addition to a very lucky family.

3/26/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Honey Bunz Babushka: To all who adore me, what an exciting week it’s been! I even had a little human come visit for a few days. As the gracious host I am, I made sure to offer plenty of snacks and entertainment. I was curious but calm, shared my toys (even though she brought her own), and handled all the crawling around like a pro.

I’ve also been working through a pesky rash. Even with special baths, new food and my usual allergy meds, it just wouldn’t settle down. Thankfully, the ever-lovely Dianne suggested a special shot and gave my foster parents the green light to visit their trusted local vet (who knows Bulldogs very well). Good news… the shot plus an increased antihistamine dose did the trick. No more scratching, and I’m feeling better than ever!

My foster parents say I’m adorable (I agree), polite with guests and I’ve even learned to ignore the German Shepherd. Oh, and accidents in the house? Very rare these days!

Even the vet’s office couldn’t get enough of me.

4/1/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Honey Bunz Babushka: It’s me… your resident beauty queen and professional La-Z-Boy model.

I’ve recently discovered the many benefits of napping in my foster dad’s recliner, and honestly, I’m expecting a call from La-Z-Boy any day now. My foster mom even caught me snoring on video…which I know is very rare for a Bulldog. 😉

My people here continue to be impressed with my TV-watching skills. I take my relaxation and entertainment very seriously.

Hugs to all my friends.

4/22/26  UDPATE ~ From foster girl Honey Bunz Babushka: Your favorite chatty girl with another update!

I had a checkup at the Allen vet and let me tell you… I was the star of the show. Everywhere I went it was, “Oh hey, Honey Bunz is here!” or “Looking good, girlfriend!” and my personal favorite, “You’re still adorable. Let me get you some treats!” Honestly, I could get used to that kind of attention. The tummy gets what the tummy gets, after all.

Now, apparently I’m going vegan. Yes, you heard that right. The humans think those delicious meaty treats might have been causing my skin issues. I have… mixed feelings about this development. Who knew?

Back at home, my foster family continues to be highly entertained by my daily “bark practice” sessions. A girl has to stay ready. You never know when a rabbit or squirrel might try to make a run across my yard.

I also attempted to build myself a cozy blanket tent, but my foster mom was too busy laughing to assist. Rude, honestly.

Until next time—stay fabulous.
