3/6/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Lucy Abigail Jones to our rescue family.
This one may break your heart.
At the shelter, Lucy Abigail Jones had to be carried out wrapped in a towel because Lucy Abigail Jones was simply too weak to walk on her own. Standing is difficult for Lucy Abigail Jones, and taking even a few steps is even harder.
It’s clear Lucy Abigail Jones’ body has been through far too much. Picked up as a stray and likely bred over and over again, the toll is written all over Lucy Abigail Jones. Loose skin hangs from Lucy Abigail Jones’ tired frame, and the light in Lucy Abigail Jones’ eyes has dimmed. Somewhere along the way, Lucy Abigail Jones gave everything she had while someone else likely tried to profit from her, litter after litter.
The exact age of Lucy Abigail Jones is unknown, but what we do know is this:
Today is the first day of the rest of your life, Lucy Abigail Jones.
No more surviving. From here on out, it’s time for healing, kindness and finally being loved the way Lucy Abigail Jones always deserved. 🐾
We need your help. If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have ever considered fostering, now is the time. Dogs like Lucy Abigail Jones need a safe place to land while they recover and learn what love feels like.
If we have more helping hands, we can save more dogs just like Lucy Abigail Jones.
The time you give is temporary, but the impact you make is enduring. Message us to learn how to join our team.
3/7/26 UPDATE ~ Please keep our newest foster girl, Lucy Abigail Jones, in your thoughts.
Lucy Abigail Jones was just rescued from a local shelter and is already showing us how much she wants to be loved, but she’s not feeling well at all. She’s currently refusing food and water and seems very sick. Our volunteer Dianne is at the vet with her now, waiting to see what’s going on and how we can help her start feeling better.
We’re hoping it’s something that can be treated quickly so she can begin the next chapter of her life safe, comfortable and surrounded by love. 💕
Thank you to everyone who supports these babies and helps us give them a second chance. We’ll update as soon as we know more. Please send Lucy Abigail Jones all the good thoughts and healing prayers.
3/7/26 UPDATE ~ Oy. We need to catch a break. 💔
We just fought so hard for Noah Ty. We poured our hearts into saving him, hoping for a miracle… and now here we are again, sitting in a vet’s office with another life that needs us just as much.
Lucy Abigail Jones was just rescued from a local shelter, and we knew right away she wasn’t feeling well. She went to the vet today, and the report was more than disappointing.
Lucy is in congestive heart failure, and her heart is so enlarged that it’s taking up most of the space in her chest. The vet also found a large spot on one lung that could be cancer or a severe infection. She has severe spondylosis in her spine. Even though she has refused food and water, her stomach is full of something. Her white blood cell count is extremely high, showing that her body is fighting a serious infection somewhere.
Right now, Lucy is hospitalized, receiving IV fluids and antibiotics while the veterinary team tries to stabilize her.
The vet had a very honest conversation with us about Lucy’s grim future and her quality of life moving forward. They explained she will likely need a hospice foster…. someone willing to give her comfort, love and peace for whatever time she has left.
But when the vet gently brought up quality of life today, volunteer Dianne told her something from her heart…
She’s not there yet.
Lucy just got out of the shelter.
She just got someone to fight for her.
She just became Lucy Abigail Jones.
Give us just a minute, please. We won’t prolong any suffering, but we need to make sure she knows what real love feels like first.
Today she is warm. She is safe. She is being cared for.
And no matter what the outcome is, she will not face it alone.
After everything with Noah Ty, our hearts are tired… but we will still stand beside Lucy and give her every ounce of love and dignity she deserves.
Please keep Lucy Abigail Jones in your thoughts. She needs every bit of strength, hope and kindness we can send her way.
3/23/26 UPDATE ~ Foster girl Lucy Abigail Jones has officially started her Bucket List Tour!
4/21/26 UPDATE ~ Here’s an update on Lucy Abigail Jones’s bucket list adventures from volunteer Beata: My husband, Paul, and I were so lucky to spend an afternoon with Lucy Abigail Jones and truly, she is one of the sweetest Bulldogs we’ve ever met. Words really don’t do her justice. ❤️
We started her special day with a pup cup from Braum’s, which she absolutely loved. With her heart condition in mind, we wanted to be careful not to overdo it, even though we brought a cart just in case so we opted for a more relaxed adventure.
Next stop: Home Depot, where Lucy got to enjoy the cool air while taking in all the sights, sounds and especially the smells of the garden center 🌺
Everywhere she went, people were drawn to her gentle spirit. She soaked up all the love and even made a new friend, a sweet beagle named Kimber. After admiring the flowers, Lucy enjoyed a cozy ride in her cart back to the car.
By the time we headed back, she was ready for a well-deserved nap. We dropped her off at her foster home with a new toy as a little parting gift.
A huge thank you to Sheliah for giving Lucy such wonderful care. She is truly in the best hands. And thank you to Dianne and all the volunteers and foster parents who continue to give these incredible dogs the love and second chances they deserve.
