Miss Maggie May

INTRODUCTION: I’m 8 years young and until now, I’ve only ever known one family.

Lately, I could tell something was changing boxes were being packed, but none of them had my things. Then one day, I was loaded into the car and told I was off on an “adventure.”

When we pulled up to the park, a kind gentleman was waiting. He looked right at me and said, “Is there a special lady here looking for a ride?”

Well, obviously he meant me!

He smiled and said, “You, my dear, are beautifully special.”

And just like that, we were off! I hopped in the truck, we turned up the music, and hit the road. We chatted about life in something called a “man cave” (whatever that is — I’ll definitely add my own flair!), and making a stop at the vet to get checked out.

Now my new chapter is beginning, and I’m ready for all the belly rubs, soft beds, and love it brings. WhooHoo — let the adventure begin!

7/2/25 UDPATE: Miss Maggie May needs a family! She writes: Foster Pops has been working hard to help me get into shape for the bikini I’ve had my eye on. We take multiple walks each day, including patrols through the peach and pecan orchards while keeping an eye out for wildlife.

I’ve spotted a few deer—they looked like small horses or maybe weird dogs—but honestly, they didn’t impress me. I’ve also learned all about hog damage (who knew that was a thing?), and I even stayed up late one night to help Foster Pops keep watch for them. I told him I was tough enough to scare them off, but he just smiled and said, “I’ve got this.”

We’ve been working on some farm skills too! Foster Pops has been super patient while helping me get used to riding the tractor and the zero-turn mower. The tractor… okay. I’m still a little unsure as we drive around. But that mower? Oh no. When that beast fired up, I jumped ship! Between the noise and the vibration, I was convinced it had come to life and was going to eat me. Jury’s still out on whether I’ll befriend that thing.

I love snuggling on the floor, especially after a long day, though I’m not a fan of being picked up—unless it’s Foster Pops, of course. He knows just how to scratch my belly to make everything right with the world.

Next on the agenda: helping out in the garden (mostly in exchange for treats!) and prepping for those early morning “o-dark-thirty” walks to beat the summer heat. Foster Pops promised they’re coming soon—and I can’t wait.

Have a great week, everyone! I’ll be here living my best country foster girl life.

8/27/25 UPDATE: Good morning, fan club! Miss Maggie May here with your weekly dose of fabulousness and fun!

Life is good and I’m loving every bit of this big world I get to explore. With summer break in full swing, I’ve been spending time with my foster grandkids. We play, we cuddle and I soak up all the attention like the queen I am. 👑

And guess what else I’ve discovered? The world’s greatest cuisine: cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. WOW. Life-changing. I think every car ride should include at least one nugget stop, but Foster Dad doesn’t always follow directions. I try my best to keep him on track, riding shotgun and pointing out every drive-thru window! 🍔

Up next? Foster Dad says we’re going on a golf cart adventure. Sounds fun, as long as it’s quiet. I love peaceful rides… unless it’s the tractor. The tractor is my jam. Something about that rumble makes me feel right at home!

So, if you’re looking for a semi-adventurous, couch-sharing, food-loving lady who will ride shotgun and steal your heart, I may be your girl. 💛

Let’s make memories (and maybe stop for nuggets, too).

12/25/25 UPDATE ~ From foster dog Miss Maggie May: I wanted each of you to know how blessed I feel to be part of rescue. This year, I’ve learned all about farming and ranching, riding tractors and mowers like a pro! I’ve also relearned how to have fun and share my very special skills, especially when the zoomies strike.

I’m extra excited for today and the weekend because my foster dad says I get to meet even more family to celebrate with! Best news ever.

I also discovered a hidden talent: I helped coordinate the Christmas decorations and really enjoyed working on the outdoor lighting. I’m still undecided about my personal decorations, but they make my foster dad happy, so I’ll allow it.

Until next time, wishing you a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year! 🎄
