2/21/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Oneida to our rescue family.
But that was not the end of her story.
3/25/26 UDPATE ~ From the foster momma: Oneida checked out of the vet and is settling into her foster home!
It will be a little while before she’s ready for her next family as she focuses on healing, completing heartworm treatment and eventually being spayed. For now, she’s soaking up all the good meals, rest and loving care she’s been missing.
After going so long without consistent food, Oneida can be a bit bossy at mealtime if she thinks she might miss out. We’re taking things slow to help her feel safe, secure and confident, showing her she’ll never have to worry about her next meal again.
4/30/26 UPDATE ~ Heartworm prevention isn’t optional. It’s protection.
Sweet foster girl Oneida had to visit the vet yesterday to begin treatment for heartworms, and it’s not easy on her. Heartworms can be painful, stressful and life-threatening… but they’re also almost completely preventable.
Treatment typically costs $800–$1,000, while prevention is simple and affordable. A monthly dose can save your dog from all of this.
Let Oneida be the reminder: prevention is so much easier than treatment. Protect your pups.
5/5/26 UPDATE ~ From her foster momma: Oneida is currently resting and recovering like a champ as she undergoes heartworm treatment following her procedure last week. This process isn’t easy, especially with about 30 days of crate rest, but she’s handling it like a true trooper.
Oneida’s perfect home will be one where she can finally feel like the queen she was always meant to be. It’s clear she hasn’t always been valued or cared for the way she deserved, and she’s still learning what stability and love look like.
She’ll thrive with a confident, consistent owner who can provide structure, guidance and clear boundaries. Right now, she’s still working on her manners and learning limits, but she has so much potential to grow into an incredible companion.
Despite her past, Oneida is incredibly loving and just wants to be close to her people. She was likely underfed for some time, so mealtimes can feel a bit intense, but she’s already making progress and learning that she’s safe now.
Oneida is looking for a home that will give her the love, structure, and security she’s been missing. And in return, she’ll give you her whole heart.
