10/14/255 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome to Rex Brown to our rescue family! From volunteer Dianne: If only Rex Brown could talk, I imagine he’d have quite a story to tell.
What we do know is this: he was being given away for free when he caught the attention of a woman’s daughter, who immediately thought of her mother, Doris. Doris has a deep love for Bulldogs, having owned several in the past, and was already caring for a Bulldog/Frenchie mix.
She welcomed Rex Brown into her home and into her heart. And it’s clear that she adored him. Sadly, her landlord did not feel the same. With strict limits on how many dogs were allowed in the home, Doris was told Rex Brown had to go, and there was no changing his mind.
After a brief but loving stay with Doris, Rex Brown found his way into rescue.
Rex Brown is truly beautiful, inside and out. He has a gentle soul and a sweet, expressive face. While he’ll need some veterinary care (including neutering and treatment for his eyes and nails), his spirit is strong. He doesn’t have many teeth left, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying his meals. This boy loves his food and eats like a champ!
Don’t be fooled by the assumption that he’s slowing down. Rex Brown still has plenty of pep in his step and genuinely enjoys his walks. He’s not your typical sluggish senior; he’s still full of life and ready for love.
Rex Brown will be visiting the vet this week, and we’ll soon have a better idea of his age. But as far as Rex Brown is concerned, age is just a number. What matters most is finding the person who will finally say: “You’re home. You’re loved. You’re mine forever.”
11/23/25 UDPATE: We’re working to match Rex Brown with the best family for him!
In the meantime, his Thanksgiving strategy is strong.
1) Lurk.
2) Stare intensely.
3) Taste-test everything in reach.
Step 4? Repeat.
12/3/25 UPDATE: We’re working to match Rex Brown to the best family for him! From his foster momma: This boy is a professional couch inspector and certified heart-thief! Rex Brown is the most peaceful, easy feeling kind of dog you’ll ever meet. At over 60 pounds, he’s a big boy, but don’t be fooled. He’s really just a marshmallow in a Bulldog suit.
Rex Brown is perfectly house-trained, loves hanging out in a roomy open crate and has immaculate dining manners (for a Bulldog). He enjoys playtime, but his true passion is being wherever you are. He’s affectionate, gentle, loves people and other well-balanced dogs and has the kind of calm presence that makes a bad day disappear.
Fair warning: Rex Brown is an elite-level slobberer. Think Turner & Hooch meets a toddler with a juice box. You’ll want paper towels within arm’s reach at all times, and possibly a poncho when he shakes his head.
If you’re looking for a sweet, sturdy, soulful companion who just wants love, snacks and a soft place to crash… Rex Brown is ready to move in.
