Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa

Some dogs have a past they can never escape. It changes them for the rest of their lives, and no amount of training or medication can change that. Rocky is human aggressive and continued to attack people at every opportunity. For his comfort and safety and the safety of those around him, the decision was made to help end his tortured existence here and allow him to be at rest. Rest in peace sweet boy.

It really hurt when my family loaded me up for a afternoon drive and dropped my off at the shelter. After all, I had been a part of their lives all my life. I thought we were best friends. At least, that was how I felt.

But there I was left to sit and think about my future… and if I would even have a future. I was in a shelter that was already so overcrowded and the number of dogs there was unbelievable. Not every dog that goes in, comes out with a new family.

Let’s just say I was one of the lucky ones. I would get a second chance at love.

Someone came to get me and brought me a new harness and leash. They told me that I still mattered.

My name really is Rocky Balboa and I really am a fighter. I didn’t let losing my family destroy me. I decided that would just make me stronger. Today, I am stronger. Tomorrow will be better and then the next day will be even better. Ain’t nothing gonna stop me now!

Thank you, rescue, for picking me up, dusting me off and telling me everything is going to be alright.

6/15/22 Update:  Unfortunately tests reveal that Rocky is positive for heart worms and will have to undergo treatment over the next two months.
