Cobalt

Cobalt

Our hearts are heavy to learn of the passing of alumnus Cobalt. He was adopted last September. Please keep his family in your thoughts as they mourn his loss, and hug your own kids. The time we get with them is never long enough.

His momma writes: We wanted to let you know that our Bulldog we adopted from you passed away last week. Our vet thinks he may have had lymphoma or leukemia based on his symptoms. He was treating him for what he suspected to be an infection, but he was struggling to improve and passed pretty suddenly.

We are so grateful for the time we had with him. He was the sweetest boy and enriched our family greatly. May our sweet Cobalt rest in peace.

I had a busy week. I had a spa day, complete with massage and the dreaded ear cleaning.

Then Foster Mom was collecting all my toys and she packed some of my food and treats. Foster Mom had been talking to me all week about the family I met and how they wanted me to become part of their family. Foster Mom said I am the “bestest” boy and I am going to have a family of my own, and Friday was the day. I got to ride shotgun to my new home.

When I arrived, I was curious and checked out my new home. Then I settled in right in front of the fan. I have been doing really well all weekend.

Thank you to rescue for picking me up at the shelter and to Bright Star Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Larsen for keeping my “click-clacks.”

Hopefully, I will see everyone again at Bull-O-Ween or another rescue event soon.

My name is Cobalt, or at least that’s the name I have now. I’m not sure what my name was before rescue.

I was found wandering around the streets in Fort Worth and was taken to the shelter. I was hoping my family would come looking for me. But after a few days of waiting, the shelter decided I should go to rescue and find a new name and a new furever home. After all, I’m only about 4 years old, so I have a lot of life still to live.

The rescue Mini came to pick me up yesterday and I was so relieved. As soon as I got into the car, I started to bark then I settled in and took a long nap.

When I got to my temporary foster home, I went to my private suite, had a little bit of water and took another long nap until dinner time. Apparently, I was really tired from all that wandering around.

Soon, I’ll visit Dr. Larsen and sit in her lap. And I can actually sit in her lap because I’m about 45 pounds. She is going to love me because I am the handsomest little guy and so sweet. My peaches will have to be picked, then I will be looking for my furever family.

7/21/23 Update:  Hi all, it’s me Cobalt –  It’s been awhile since I’ve updated. Foster mom has been busy with “things” in the family.

Anyways, I have just been chilling and enjoying playing with my toys, and anyone else’s I can borrow.  FM has found that I do well with the super tough toys (benebones, hard rubber balls or kongs, etc).  I also love to sun-bathe,  but I know exactly when I am done, just about 4.33 minutes.

I have yet to meet the infamous Dr Larsen to sit in her lap.  I know she will just love me. I am not a big kisser, but I love hugs.  I also need to reschedule my surgery to remove my “click-clacks”.  They are pretty annoying when I walk!

I am hoping to go to the event this weekend,  so I can meet some new friends and maybe my new family?

8/3/23 Update:  I had an amazing time at the Bulldog Bonanza last Saturday. It was my first public appearance and I didn’t know what to expect, so I was a little scared.

My foster brother, Walter, joined me and told me in the car that there would be lots of people who would be petting me, giving me hugs and scratches. He was right!

I walked around and introduced myself to everyone. I met a lot of other Bulldogs too and they were so nice. I had so much fun that when I was tired,  I found myself a elevated table to chill on.

I hope that I can be matched to my furever family soon. In fact, as soon as I give my click-clacks to Dr. Larsen, I will be good to go!

8/11/23 Update:  Well, I finally got to meet Dr. Larsen and everyone at Bright Star Veterinary Clinic. And it was worth the wait!

Doc was so nice to me and I got lots of hugs and kisses. A couple pokes for some blood and I was done.

I spent the night at the clinic as Doc took and kept my “click-clacks” yesterday. All went well and I can go to my foster home today to rest.

As soon as I’m recovered, I will be ready for my forever home!

8/22/23 Update:  I’m on my way to visit a family who saw me at the last event. I was working the room and we didn’t get enough visit time.  They wanted more one-on-one time with me. Paws crossed they love me!
