Please share your condolences with the dear foster family of Dhuni. They had to say goodbye to the sweet girl who stole their hearts. Her foster momma writes: Yesterday, Doc and Heather helped our dear baby cross the Rainbow Bridge. It was a wonderful miracle to have her for a little over a year. At her last appointment, approximately 5 months ago, her kidney numbers were not good. She fought to enjoy her time with us. This week, her body finally said it was time to say goodbye. Please keep us in your prayers. We grew really close and are already missing her gentle spirit.
Today I joined rescue, and it was a sad day indeed. I just celebrated my birthday on Christmas…. I turned 9 years old.
My dad went overseas awhile back, and I stayed here in Texas. I recently learned my dad would not be back for another six months. Plus, the family who has been caring for me are leaving Texas and they can’t take me with them.
So, Bulldog friends, here I am ~ a beautiful senior lady looking for a new retirement home. At my age, I sure hope there is a family out there who will want to adopt me.
I am small and I have great manners. I’m shy when I first meet you, but I warm up after a bit.
I am going to visit Dr. Larsen on Friday because my hair is a little dry and flakey. And my nose is a mess. I’m sure they’ll help me look like a new gal in no time.
Maybe you’re ready for a new gal? We may be a perfect match. By the way, while my name is Dhuni, my new rescue friends call me Dee Dee.
4/9/24 Update: Dhuni is doing well with her fluid treatments due to kidney disease. We’ve changed her food, so hopefully she’ll eat more. So far, it’s looking that way. She’s much more playful now that she’s feeling better!
7/11/24 Update: We’re still keeping a close eye on Dhuni’s kidney numbers, but Dr. Larsen is happy ~ she likes the way her coat looks, her extra weight and the fact that she’s more playful!
1/10/25 Update: She’s one of our special needs dogs due to her kidney disease, but that doesn’t stop her from being a sweet and loving companion. We’re incredibly grateful that she’s currently in the care of a dedicated foster family who go above and beyond to ensure Dhuni’s life is as wonderful as it can be. Now, she just needs a family who will continue to give her the love and care she deserves.
From her foster momma: Dhuni has had her share of ups and downs, but she’s definitely on the upswing again!
Lately, I’ve been giving her small amounts of IV fluids every day, and she’s been noticeably perkier. She’s even been playing with the foster pup, Chester Allen, in short bursts, which is a real source of encouragement for us.
Bath time will never be her favorite, but she’s always a trooper about it.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Heather at the vet clinic for sending some lamb-flavored, kidney-friendly food! Dhuni’s appetite has picked up, and she’s eating much better now. She also loves the kidney-friendly treats donated regularly by one of Trey’s vet clinics, which is such a kind gesture.
Over the holidays, we hosted a few gatherings, and Dhuni was right in the middle of it all! She was especially interested in our tiny human visitors—a set of 1 1/2-year-old twins. She couldn’t get enough of them, and it was such a sweet sight to see.
Dhuni loves snuggling up in bed, relaxing on the sofa, and sometimes even being hand-fed (yes, I’m shaking my head at that one). We’ve also noticed that she struggles to see without plenty of light, but she’s still her sweet, loving self.
