Greyson (now Red)

Greyson (now Red)

Please wrap your hearts around the family of Red (alumnus Greyson), as he recently left for the Rainbow Bridge.

From his momma: Our little guy, Red,  had just began his life with us. He joined our family a short seven months ago, but made such an impact in our lives. His spunky attitude, loving heart and sweet personality was enjoyed every day. He was so happy from the moment he woke up to bedtime.

We saw his Bulldog struggles and wanted a better life for him. Red was positioning himself to breathe easier, waking himself up during nap times with apnea episodes, choking easily on all foods causing himself to vomit, and severely foaming with any excitement or playtime. We tried our best to deal with the issues at home, but all of these restricted his quality of life.

After careful consideration, the decision was made to perform palate surgery with his neutering to decrease his risks.  Red, our 1 year old, never came home due to surgical complications and passed away.

We are in shock and grieving a loss in our family.

Our family will forever miss and love Red. The slobber kisses, playtimes, hugs, cuddles, snoring and goofy barks and noises he made are just a few things we miss.

I have questioned continuously why this happened. Why was Red taken from us so quickly? Being a rescue pup, we felt Red needed us, but in the end we realize we needed him. He was loved so much.

Greyson’s new family got a gem with this (not so) little guy! He gained 6 lbs. in two weeks at our house. He learned all kinds of “dog things” from his friends, but we worried they were getting attached (as we were). We knew he needed to go to his permanent home sooner, rather than later. We miss him so much already, but his new parents, Kari and Matthew, are the best!

Greyson is 5 months old and very small. He has svelte frame now, but his temporary foster dad, Jeff, will fix that right up. Please stay tuned to learn more about him. He has a visit with the vet Monday and will get a little surgery to fix his raging hormones.
