This post is ridiculously overdue but still as hard to write as the day she left. Molly Marigold Wringwald was one in a million. When she came to us with her cat Dottie she was quiet and unsure and then with care and comfort she blossomed. She went on adventures, she was silly and playful. She loved playing with a ball each night and showing it who was boss. She was a beggar who had her foster dad wrapped tightly around her paw (who even agreed with her that she didn’t need no stinkin’ diet!) She loved her skin kids when they laid on the floor with her-they could do no wrong . Molly loved being large and in charge and had no time for foster mom’s potty schedules for herself and all the other dogs. She went out when she wanted, with whoever she wanted to (who cares if they didn’t like her?! They could wait until she was done if there was an issue.) Molly was born in 2009 making her 13-14 years old. How I wish she had come to me younger; but she still had a couple damn good months. She was an amazing girl who did everything on her own terms, I’m so blessed she passed peacefully-her way- in her sleep. Gone, but not ever forgotten. Sweet Dreams baby girl.
The cat and I had been living at home alone since our dad was incarcerated. Luckily, we had friends and family come over to feed and care for us.
Yesterday, my family came over and the rescue wagon showed up too. I tried to go back into the house, but Grandma came and got me.
I heard the rescue lady promise Grandma that I would be taken care of and loved. I soon was put in the wagon and off we went.
Last night, I cried and barked all night long. It’s hard to lose your family after 12 or 13 years.
The rescue lady kept coming in to check on me. She kept telling me I was safe and that I was going to be OK. I hope she’s right.
This morning, as she watched me trip outside, she told me that soon I’d get to meet Dr. Larsen who would help me feel like a million bucks again. Maybe this rescue place wont be so bad!
2/21/23 Update: Molly Wringwald is finally settling into her foster home and starting to show us her personality. She picked out her favorite dog bed and uses it as her home base. She adores her foster dad (who has been known to cook for her and sneak her special treats)!
Molly sees Dr. Larsen this week and we are hoping for a clean bill of health. We want her to enjoy her golden years snoozing, exploring her yard and sun bathing.
3/3/23 Update: I went to see Dr. Larsen last week and I sat in her lap. She told me I was beautiful and adorable!
She gave me antibiotics for all my rotten teeth, packed my ears and gave me medication for my infected eyes. I even started getting some new fresh foods that are easier for me to eat and a joint supplement!
Boy, let me tell you… I’m feeling like a new woman. I get up at the crack of dawn with the other dogs, go out to do my business, nap and of course, keep an eye out for any food or treats being given so I don’t miss out.
I even have my foster dad wrapped around my paw. If I make a peep, he shares his food with me.
I also started playing a little bit. I’m still spry for my age! I’d love to live my senior years in front of your fireplace.
P.S. One of the techs at the vet office thinks I’m so beautiful. She said I remind her of a beautiful flower and she calls me Marigold! Foster Mom thought it was the perfect middle name for me: Molly Marigold Wringwald.
3/9/23 Update: Poor Molly has been sick the last week with a nasty cough. Special thanks to Dr Larson and staff for helping get this sweet girl back on the road to recovery.
