Rosalyn

Rosalyn

Unfortunately, we’re grieving the loss of alumna Rosalyn today. Please lift up her family in your thoughts as they are feeling truly lost without her.

From Rosalyn’s momma: We had to say goodbye to our beautiful and sweet Rosie on Tuesday. I am heartbroken even writing this – this precious girl was only 3 years old and had just come into rescue three months ago.

We received a shocking advanced nasal cancer diagnosis at A&M a few weeks ago, Then, she took a really bad turn on Monday. She could no longer breathe out of her nose at all and was gasping for air.

We never saw this coming – she simply had a wound above her eye when she came into rescue that we all thought was a bite. It wasn’t. It was an evil cancer that had likely already been growing in her head for months.

I hate cancer. As one of our followers told me, it is a thief. It really is – it stole Rosie from us months after our sweet Margie Maple died from megacolon complications.

We are just devastated and ask for prayers for sweet, sweet Rosie to be welcomed into heaven and get all the love she so deserves. That’s all she wanted – love and attention.

Three-year-old Rosalyn can’t get any cuter! Her small frame is perfect ~ thick with curves in the right places. She loves everyone and everything: kids, cats and other dogs.

Rosalyn’s family was going in different directions, and she knew her address would need to change too. It was difficult for her mom to tell her goodbye, but she knew Rosalyn needs a family who has more time to spend with her. Her mom knew we’d be able to find her a loving family who will do just that.

Rosalyn has never met a stranger and when she sees you, she loves you. She enjoys being a lap Bulldog and she won’t pass up a treat. Her fur feels like silk and she will stand still like a statue for you to brush her. There’s really not one thing not to love about Rosalyn.

Rosalyn will be visiting Dr. Larsen soon and after a little surgery to end her baby-making days, she will be looking through our approved applications for a perfect family to love her forever.

6/21/24 Update:  Sweet Rosalyn came into rescue in April with what looked like a bite wound above her eye. Fast forward two months and we have been through rounds of different antibiotics and exploratory surgery. An X-ray found tremendous amount of pus (which was flushed out), but no foreign object.

The wound was incredibly deep and pus was into the nasal cavity. The vet said if the initial surgery didn’t work, Rosie would need a specialist with guided-scope surgery.

We wound up taking Rosie down to A&M last week and got some very upsetting news. A CT scan revealed a tangerine-size tumor that has eaten away bone in her nasal passage sinuses and is pushing on her eye.

Our next step is a consult with oncology. This is apparently a very aggressive form of cancer. I just thought I’d ask if anyone has had experience with this type of cancer in any of your dogs.

We just don’t know how long we have. I’d really appreciate any advice on how you might have handled something like this to keep them comfortable. Please send all ideas and prayers Rosie’s way. She’s far too young (only 3). If anyone has ideas for her “bucket list,” please let me know.
