We unfortunately had to say goodbye to Wally Takoda this week.
Even after being on three different antibiotics for two weeks, he wasn’t improving. Dr. Larsen said his health continued to worsen.
When the staff got to work on Wednesday morning, Wally was laying down and all his lymph nodes were swollen. The most he could do was lift one paw.
Dr. Larsen believed he was battling either an auto-immune disease or cancer. She felt like he was in pain and dying, so we knew we had to let him go. Dr. Larsen and her staff helped him peacefully cross over.
It breaks all of our hearts that we couldn’t give him the chance at health that he so deserved, but Wally knows we tried our darndest. He left this world knowing nothing but love. Until we see you again, sweet boy.
In case you’re wondering about my name, it sounds like Ta-KO-da…. short A – long O – short A.
I told the nice rescue lady that I liked my name, but I needed a strong last name and one that had meaning. We started looking and I tell you what, there are a lot of good names out there! But I found one that just stuck with me. I kept saying Wally this and Wally that. Then I said. “Wally Takoda” and I was like, “That’s it!”
Takoda is a Native American name meaning “friends to everyone.” Not only did it sound good with Wally, it has a meaning I truly believe. I am hoping that this new beginning means a lot of new friendships for me.
My owner loved me, but he just couldn’t keep up with my out-of-hand allergies. It was just too much and before he realized it, I was in so much pain. Then it was getting really costly and he knew I needed more help than he could give.
I was pretty sad last night that he left me, but I woke up this morning with a new name, a new vision on life, and as of now, two new friends!
I am headed to the vet clinic to get some much TLC and you know what? I plan to make more friends! I’m told Dr. Larsen and her staff are the creme de la creme of friends. I can not wait!
