It was love at first sight for Louie when he met his furever dad last week. He was adopted today and was so excited to see his new dad pull up. He was ready to go! Louie will spend his days playing with his Bulldog brother, Koa, and will want for nothing. Happy life, sweet boy!
It was one of those days in rescue that you just hate. A day when the surrendering family is doing the right thing, but it still hurts so much.
No doubt about it: Louie Armstrong was loved beyond measure. Louie came with two couch beds, toys, and enough “Louie stuff” to fill the back of my SUV. It was obvious that Louie wanted for nothing, but a baby was born early and created a whole other set of circumstances.
Louie has his own medical needs. He needs a little “wrinkle remover” because if he has eyes, it’s hard to see them. He’s had entropion surgery on both eyes, but those wrinkles are something else. He has the typical skin allergies that plague some Bulldogs when the weather changes and a few hot spots that he likes to lick.
Louie is a dream Bulldog. He likes everyone and here at the garden center, everyone who saw him wanted to pet him. Finally, he just fell over from exhaustion because of all the attention.
Louie’s dad left in tears. He gave Louie several hugs and said, “I will always remember you and always love you, Louie.” For Louie, it was all about the timing… a time for Louie to find a family who can focus on him and his medical needs.
Louie is 2 years old, loves to eat, enjoys snacks, plays with toys and is potty trained. He’ll soon be ready to be adopted by a furever family, and he’ll bring his carload of stuff!
12/12/20 Update: Louie is getting settled into his foster home. He’s a big ball of love and loves to play with humans, all dogs and toys. He gets pretty mouthy when he plays, so he would be best in a home without small children. He’s also become very amorous with our couch cushions.
12/24/20 Update: Louie is such a playful guy. He loves running around the yard with foster girl Stormy Breeze. Louie had some hot spots flare up on his skin this past week, but that are quickly going away. He stole our TV remote and took it to his crate. We figured it out when the channels began changing. He was easily redirected with his toys.
12/29/20 Update: Louie had a great Christmas playing with his dog friends & his toys! He also got his sutures removed this past week & his incisions are looking great! He’s good about letting foster momma put vitamin E on the incisions to help with the scarring. He’s such a good boy!
1/5/21 Update: Sweet Louie is such a great guy. We love him so much! He gets along with everyone and is a good snuggler.
